Zantac Generic in Q&A
How much does a generic dosage of infant zantac cost? Need to know about how much a generic bottle of infant zantac costs?

christie replied: "i think is $3.99 with insurance and $20 sometthing without. i use the zantac brand for my baby only pay $20 since my insurance cover it, if without insurance $64."

Is there a danger in taking Klonopin (generic: Clonazepam) and Zantac at the same time? Klonopin is a fast-acting drug for panic attacks and Zantac is for gastrointestinal discomfort. Thanks! Thanks! What concerns me is that I don't take either regularly, but I've had a stressful day and I was told that I could take both as needed, but I wasn't sure if it was okay to take them at exactly the same time. It might be different because my body's not really used to either one.

Ashton's G-Ma replied: "I don't think there should be any conflict, however you should call your doctor or the pharmacy that you got your klonopin filled at to be sure. I took care of my grandmother for 2 years before she passed away and she took klonopin and zantac daily together without any problems."

SZO replied: "There's no known adverse interaction when the 2 drugs are taken together."

Ranitidine (generic zantac) for baby reflux? My son (almost 3 months) started this med yesterday, he had silent reflux (where they don't vomit/spit up alot). Ever since the first dose yesterday, he has been unhappy- spitting after and between every bottle and very fussy. I plan to call his dr, but did you go through this with your baby? Did it get better?

♥Lucky♥ 2nd Bun in the Oven replied: "My baby started Zantac at 5 weeks and it instantly made him feel better. He did not go through the excessive spitting and discomfort as you're describing. I would call the doc and double-check the dosage."

angeline j replied: "I went through all of that but a day or two after I started the medicine she was alot better. Good luck and yes I would call the dr cuz he should be better"

Mommy_Of 2 replied: "Ask the doc about Prevacid 15 milligrams (it usually comes in packets in powder form) if the Zantac doesn't seem to be doing the job, I went through horrible GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), with my 34 weeker Baby Girl, the only thing that did it for Her was the Prevacid."

**Servati** replied: "my son was on ranitidine as well; and i am happy to say that he finally grew out of the acid reflux. he wasnt fussy at all; but the medicine worked great. we noticed a difference within a day. Maybe the problem isnt acid reflux. if the medicine doesent improve with your son then i would set up an appointment and see if there is anything else that could be going on."

Ranitidine 150 mg Tablets which is the generic of ZANTAC 150 Tablets causes a false positive on a drug test? My boyfriend had to go take a drug test for his p/o today & ended up testing positive for Methamphetamine. Now I know for a fact that he hasn't done any because I am with him practically 24/7.. I am really worried about this because now his p/o thinks he is doing drugs (which he is not), and I was just wondering if the equate generic form of Zantac will cause a false positive. The only active ingredient is Ranitidine 150mg(as ranitidine hydrochloride, USP 168mg) and the inactive ingredients are: FD&C red, hypromellose, iron oxide black, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol, titanium dioxide. I am not sure if any of that makes a difference in the answer but i really need to know cause if this is what is causing the false positive he needs to stop taking it. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! I AM WORRIED TO DEATH ABOUT THIS!! :( he has taken this for heartburn & goody's powder, and aleve. other than that he takes nothing. his p/o called him a liar when he said he hasn't done meth in 3 or 4 years, which i know he wasn't lying because he was clean when we got together(i made him take an otc drug test) and thats how long we have been together, and we have been with each other 24/7 (except when he was at work which i know he never would do anything like that at work) She is convinced but i know otherwise.

daddyrx replied: "Ranitidine will not test false positive for amphetamines. Has your boyfriend taken any cold medications in the past 3 days? Products for a cold which contain ephedrine or pseudoephedrine may test positive for amphetamines. Find out what else he is taking."

AbeLincolnParty replied: "If it was a cheap chemical test that shows a color change then that cannot be relied upon as proof postive. The gold standard, the kind applied to government police and fire personell is some form of chromatography (separates a complex mixture of molecules) followed by Mass Spectra (weights the molecule and its breakdown products) and IR spectra (the molecular fingerprint of infrared frequency absorption unique to a molecule). Anything less than this is just guessing."

Ranitidine (generic zantac) for GERD/reflux? My son (almost 3 mos) atrted this med yesterday, he had silent reflux (where they don't vomit/spit up alot). Ever since the first does yesterday, he has been unhappy- spitting after and between every bottle and very fussy. I plan to call his dr, but did you go through this with your baby? Did it get better? oops, I mean *started* and *dose*.. ugh

Pedsgurl replied: "This isn't something that is common for babies who are put on Zantac. I think you are right to check with your doctor. It may be suggested that you give it a little more time but I have never heard of a baby getting fussy ( fussier) on this med and then staying on that medications. With GER, it sometimes takes a few attempts to find the right medication"

hovering replied: "My doctor put my youngest on Zantac for reflux. We tried it for a couple of days but every single time we gave it to him he would throw it right back up so the doc took him off of it and suggested we wait it out. By the time he was about 18 months or so he seemed to have grown out of it but he did have to suffer through it."

heather c replied: "My son, now 9 mos, took zantac for his reflux too. We ended up switching his formula and his meds because it wasn't working. We found out he's got a cow's milk allergy and was put on Nutrimagen (scientifically developed formula) and Reglan (stronger GERD medication). He's doing great now. He still spits up sometimes, but we went to an ear nose throat doc and they said he's got a looser than normal flap of skin over his voice box that he 'gags' on. They also said that it would become firmer as he matures. My daughter, now 4 years, had bad reflux and had to drink Enfamil AR, which is thickened formula and used Reglan, too. She's fine now. It's trial and error with formulas, but you could mention it to his ped and maybe try a different formula. If the Zantac doesn't start helping within the next 3 days, maybe it needs an upgrade to Reglan also. Good luck!"

Is it safe to take Zantac with Prilosec? I have been take 20mg of Prilosec daily but my dr. has upped it to 40 mg. I swiyched back to 20mg because it was making my leg ache. The other dr has put me on 150 mg of Ranitidine generic for Zantac 150mg is it safe for me to take Zantac and Prilosec together? I am supposed to take the Zantac twice daily.

tlbs101 replied: "Yes. My doctor started me on both about a month ago (even at a higher dosage than you), and then 2 days ago he said it wouldn't be necessary to take the Ranitidine anymore. I found no ill effects by taking them both (and I wish I had started taking Prilosec about 5 years ago!). He said the 2 meds work in slightly different ways and they don't counteract or contraidicate each other. ."

Kristin replied: "Make sure that each doctor knows about the other prescription. These drugs work differently, but both decrease acid in the stomach. You probably do not need to be taking both. I'm not sure that there is any benefit in doing so. But like I said, talk to both of your doctors and see which therapy they recommend keeping you on."

Why can't I find generic ranitidine in any stores right now? I've been buying ranitidine at Costco for a really nice price the last five years. My dad's doctor has him taking about five of the 75 mg. pills a day. Neither of us can find the cheap generic, but we can find the expensive Zantac. I live in Texas and he lives in Iowa. Did the factory burn down? Did they have sanitation issues? Am I going to go broke getting rid of my heartburn?

caffsans replied: "try the drug store"

babylara replied: "i think you should ask for a new prescription. There are other drugs that has the same effects as ranitidine. I dont want to name those drugs. You should ask your doctor on what drug he/she could prescibe when there is no ranitidine in the market. Sometimes drugs go out of stock or being banned for use since it causes other fatal adverse reactions. You should ask you doctor for an alternative."

xooxcable replied: "I think it must be a factory issue of some sort. I live in texas as well, but I travel weekly across the US, and it's not to be found. My wife and I relied on our supply from WalMart, which currently doesnt even have a shelf spot for it. Target is all out as well, but fear not...it looks like it may return around July 8th to July 11th, at least at Target. I noticed that their empty shelf spots were marked with dates, and the pharmacist told me thats when they expect more."

Nursey Jill replied: "MY dr presccribed me Zantac 150 mg tablets, but I know that by prescription you can also 300 mg tablets. If you have a dr, maybe ask about a prescprtion, instead of over the counter. I do have insurance but 180, 150 mg Zantac cost me about $12. I think the regular price is about $25."

Why do i keep burping all the time even though I am taking an acid reducer for acid reflux disease? Well i was diagnosed with acid reflux (gerd or what ever) about a year ago, and now i burp ALL the time, quite loudly, and not just a little burp, sometimes more like a belch. Its really embarassing and I was wondering if the antacid (generic brand of Zantac) is supposed to be making me do this? I'm a girl in my early teens.

I accept Chaos replied: "I think that it is the acid reflux causing this."

MommyPlusHalf replied: "The gases are being released via belching. Be lucky its not coming out the other end lol. jk. But really, it does have to come up, or it will stay in your tummy and keep botherin you."

☽☾ Kuroryu no Yoru replied: "Even though you are taking preventive medications, you should still try to avoid highly acidic foods, such as: Tomatoes, oranges, vinegar, etc."

My skin has a redness to it and when rumbed causes a itchy sensation? My whole body is sensitive, if i scratch or rub any part of my body it begins to turn red. and feels sort of an itchy sensation like I have been working with insulation which I have not been in contact with. I have tried the typical allegeric reaction things, ie stop using new products etc. and haven't eaten anyting different. This has been going on for about 6 mo. now. I have seen a allegery specialist and cannot figure out what the problem is. The Dr. prescribed me a generic allegra and zantac to see if that stops the problem and so far (2 weeks ) it is still persistent. No previous allergies or allegric reactions.

SG Elite replied: "Go see a determologist to ascertain the reason/s for the rashes and itchiness."

kittana replied: "Hmm sounds complicated but i think u shud call up ur doctor and update him/her on this coz u've taken the medicine and still the problem persists.....also there must be something in ur home which comes in contact with ur skin kindly notedown wat is it that u got new in ur home in the past 6-7 months write it down on a paper also if u started eating something new in the past 6-7 months also any new places u started going all these miscellaneous things just notedown coz at times things just slip our minds and we never know wat changes happen. Dust mites cud coz the reaction. Do u dust the room/ rooms ? or read books which are old and may have some mites in them ? do u go to some place where dust is there? I will say that u try listing and observing things for the past few days and the next few days make a note and then see on which day u experience the itcyness more. I have used a ointment called candi B it's a anti microbial and antifungal I wud suggest that u get hold of any such ointment and apply on the infected part the itching will cease and it'll will soothe u also wash the area with water nicely and then with clean hands apply the ointment and c if this helps u then be sure ur allergic to some dust or have a dry skin condition resulting into eczema which is treated by a skin specialist . Hope this helps and u shud update ur doctor coz he/she will know wats really happenning. My doubt is dust or dry skin problem affecting u....My own experience.Try to c wat u've been using which is new in the past 6-7 months."
