dbgyog replied: "Hardly.
pl see what suits you.
If you are in cold country use all warm things.
Pl try cold water bath and observe if in hot country, if pain increases use warm.
If you have cough/cold body hot water bath will help.
Massage and exercise in front of morning sun is good thing, pl try.
Pl try simple acupressure given below for immediate relief.
If it fails you will have to go for Acupuncture.
There is hardly any medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for RA, OA, Back ache, Ear ache/ringing, Stomach ache and almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, WORRY, sadness, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation; drug side effects, stress, bad smell, TV & COMPUTER SOMETIMES, Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy, BODY CONSTITUTION etc are their causes.
None of them can be treated with medicine.
Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.
Acupuncture is the best treatment.
I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.
Pain killers don't treat the pain but we loose the sense of pain for some time; in that duration our body itself treats sometime and credit goes to meds.
The useless drugs have tremendous power of side effects like liver/kidney failures, ulcer, inflammation of intestines and lot more.
Avoid late sleeping if possible; worry, tension, spicy foods, sour fruits, stale bakery foods, SMOKING and alcohole.
Sweet foods, COCOANUT WATER,sweet fruits like dates, milk, rice, SPROUTS, SALADS and good sleep will help if cough is not there.
But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it is very strong.
If it is acute pl search a painful point (with round tipped pen/jimmy) 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.
For forehead/eye pain the points are in front of nails on the finger tips or 3-7 mm below.
It may disappear naturally too.

brittlynn replied: "Migraines are not always easy to detect.
Tension headaches are the most common type of headache. Most people describe these headaches as a mild or moderate pressing, or tightening, head pain. Typically, tension headaches respond well to over-the-counter treatments. Unlike migraines, they are not accompanied by nausea or light and sound sensitivity. Also, normal activity will not typically aggravate them.
Migraine headaches, on the other hand, often feature:
* Throbbing head pain
* Worsening pain with routine activity
* Nausea and/or vomiting
* Light and sound sensitivity
Often, people with watery eyes, runny nose, nasal congestion and headache may think they have a SINUS HEADACHE. What they may be experiencing is a migraine. Nearly half of all migraine patients experience ocular or nasal symptoms, along with head pain. That's why it's always critical to talk to your healthcare professional."
If you know anything about taking TOPAMAX for migraine headaches...? I'm 16 and currently weigh about 120. I had been taking amitriptyline for my migraines. While taking it I gaines maybe ten pounds. Doctor kept raising dosage, I ended up taking 50mg of it then just stopped it cuz I had too many negative side effects and it wasn't preventing my migraines much anymore either.
Just a few days ago my doctor put me on 50mg of Topomax. I take it at night. Today was the second day of having it in my system. And I still had headaches throughout both days.
How long should it take for topomax to work? Should my headaches already be stopped? Maybe my dosage should be increased?
Ashley replied: "I too have suffered with migraines for years. I have been on Topamax before, but I am now on Nortryptaline. Most medicines take about 10 days to fully enter your body's system. My headaches/migraines haven't fully stopped, but I have them less often and less intense. Try the medicine for at least a month before saying they don't work at all. And if after that you are still having them as often and as hard, I would talk to my doctor about trying something different.
Also, when I have a bad migrane, I take medicine, like advil, and put an ice pack on the back of my neck for a while and try to relax. It feels great and helps to ease the migrane!"
Has anyone found an Alternative way to GET RID OF Migraine Headaches? I have now tried over 20 medications that have not worked and I am currently taking a mixture of Topamax and Depakote. There is no telling when and if I will be able to get off the meds and I would like to have children one day down the road. That may not be possible if I cannot find an alternative to these medications. And my neurologist does not even have a second thought about not being on medication. She passes them out like candy.... Has anyone had success with any alternative forms of headaches relief??? I'm willing to explore new territory!

Tina replied: "Have you tried massage therapy? Trigger point bodywork along with relaxation Swedish massage can be very helpful. Also chiropractic has been known to work wonders on migraines. Some people use ice on the back of the neck, but if you put it on the base of the skull a little higher, if you feel upwards on your neck to the skull, where that bone protrudes, get the ice there, moist heat on your back, soft music after massage and/or chiropractic, it does feel better."
imrational replied: "It depends on what is causing the headaches.
I think a lot of migraines stem from sinus problems. Try flushing your sinuses with a lukewarm saline rinse. Also, try tiger balm under your eyes and nose while standing in a steamy shower. Open up those sinuses!
You might want to check your diet and activities. Smoking, alcohol, and caffeine withdrawel is notorious for setting off migraines.
I would seriously recommend keeping a migraine diary. Record every time you have a migraine. Also record such things as the pollen count, barometric pressure and what you ate that day. I know it sounds tedious... but it is an excellent way to start to track down alternative causes.
Good luck!"

mother earth replied: "Praise on you for taking responsibility of your troubles and seeking alternative therapies rather than just taking another pill! I used to have migraines but I don't anymore. They were the kind where you would lie around in total darkness and quiet and contort your body into all kinds of funky positions to get some relief with an ice pack over my eyes mind you. I don't know if yours are that bad but mine were and one day while reading in VIE Magazine I noticed a write up about the connection between migraines and a build up of toxins in the intestinal tract. The article recommended a thorough herbal internal cleanse so I figured what the heck is there to lose. I went to GNC and bought a product by Nature's Secret called Ultimate Cleanse. I used the product for 3 months, at the end of the thtree month period I had reduced the number of migraines from 2 to 3 a week to 1 a month and had lost 18 pounds. I took a break from the cleanse and then repeated it 3 months later. I have had one migraine in 11 years and am positive it was due to a misalignment in my cervical spine because as soon as I had my chiropractic adjustment the migraine released within 15 minutes. Keep in mind both of the therapies and also drink lots and lots of water to flush the toxins you take in daily. I drank one half my body weight in ounces daily for over a year and I still do the Ultimate Cleanse every six months. Here's to your health, Migraine Free : Þ"

If your problem is due to menstruation then you need to take Evening Primrose and Agnus Castus(for hormonal balance)These are the best ones but i do have others.
Diet: Fruit juice-Oily Fish-Hay diet-Low Salt
Vitamins: A & B complex.B6,B12 Vit C up to 1000 mg daily.
E- Niacin.
Minerals: Manganese, Calcium,Magnesium & Zinc
Sometimes a timely diuretic to reduce the volume of blood may abort an attack.
I also give my patients massage treatment and this help greatly. These are not overnight cures some take time to get into the system, so be patient. Stay off Topomax,it's an anti-convulsant drug and can have nasty side effects.I have lost all faith in GPs, I'd sooner consult my vet.
Any more help e mail me on: A word of caution: You must come off your drugs before you take any herbal medicine
If you want to check that any of my medications are safe to take with what your Gp has given you, you can ask him but most of them do not agree with alternative medicine so be warned, he won't like it but orthodox medications are killing us, God's medicine is the best, he knows what's best for us, after all he made it..

My 14 year old son has TERRIBLE MIGRAINE headaches? We live in Houston, TX and they started over the summer. He has seen a pediatric neurologist (had an MRI which was normal) and been on Imitrex, Axert, topamax and depakote but he still has these horrible break through headaches we cannot seem to control. Anyone having the same problems? Any suggestions? HELP!

Niecey replied: "I have been living with these for 15 years. Unfortunately, people don't realize that migraines are crippling, among other things. I read the book, LIVING WELL WITH MIGRAINE DISEASE AND HEADACHES, by Teri Robert. Good book! There are no cures, but keep trying. I had no luck with these medications either. You can try GelStat which is a herbal remedy. (just google it). It's not that expensive, It works some times. My deepest empathy for your son. Most of these drugs have such terrible side effects, and don't work. Good luck to you and your son! God bless!"
Coxer replied: "I don't get migraines. I'm a winner.
1) I didn't "trash your son". I stated the facts that I don't get migraines and that I'm a winner. Because you see, I don't get migraines and I am in fact a winner.
2) Only the toughest of the tough make threats over the internet. Are you trying to use fear to get me to something, such as apologize? I think that's called terrorism.
3) I'm hurt and offended that you would you use such profane language and curse towards me. Children go on this site. You should be ashamed.
4) Just for you, because I do respect a guy that has a pair, I'll be helpful. You definitely want to get a second opinion about it. A migraine occurs when blood vessels within the head constrict which causes a decrease of bloodflow to the head. One of the chain reactions is a reduced number of enkephalins, which relieve pain in the brain. Maybe he just needs some meds that increase enkephalins. Also migraines can occur from taking in an excess amount of carbohydrates, allergies, and foods rich in iodine. Happy now?"
greengirlmissy replied: "Has he been to see an eye doctor? Frequently, migraines can be caused by a vision problem. Nothing too serious, he may just need glasses. However, definitely get it checked out, as it may be a sign of something more serious. I know I get migraines occasionally if I spend too much time on the computer.
Hope this helps!
Goalie 79, this is for you-- I respect your love for your son more than you know--I wish my dad would stick up for me like that. However, I don't think he actually intended to be offensive. Some people get on here and joke around, and aren't aware of when they shouldn't. He is right about one thing, though, there are kids on here. Show your son how to be a better man than that. Keep loving him, though!
Sorry if I offend you, I really don't mean to. I'll keep your son in my prayers. P.S. I hate to even bring it up, but is it accompanied by dizziness or weight loss? I had a friend who died our senior year because she had cancer in her brain. Those were the symptoms. Get a second, and a third opinion. They didn't know about hers until they went to a different doctor. By the time they found out, 3 days later, she was dead. Sorry to bring it up, but I don't want anyone else to have to go through that."
Goalie 79 replied: "Hey Coxer,
This kid is my son. If I ever meet you, you'll regret saying that. DON'T YOU EVER TRASH MY KID AGAIN.
JUST BY SAYING THIS, YOU SHOW HOW MUCH OF AN ASSHOLE YOU REALLY ARE."
Ryan's mom replied: "My first migraine that I remember getting was when I was 5 years-old...my dad and oldest sister get them too. Has he had any head or neck injuries that caused them to start? Pinched nerves in the neck can cause horrible migraines. I was rear-ended 9 years ago and still get headaches from the neck problems. When I used to get my migraines when I was a kid my mom out have me lay down in my bedroom with the curtains closed, lights off and a cool washcloth on my forehead. She would give me Tylenol, which was basically worthless for a migraine. Use the prescriptions along with the above treatment and see if he gets relief from that."

I am currently taking topamax 50 mg twice a day for Migraines headaches. Been working great for 6 months.? But now I just started getting headaches as much as I did before I started it. Is it possible my body has gotten used to the medicine? Can my doctor up this dose? Will this help or will he have to keep upping the dose every so often. Should I stop it and try another medicine for my migraines?
here replied: "It could be a lot of things. You need to speak with your doctor a.s.a.p."
what are the risk of taking the migraine medication Topamax ? I am 17 years old and when i went to my headache specialist they suggested i take Topamax and there was no real threats. But reading online about all the side effects has me worried.
Susan Yarrawonga replied: "Side effects from prescription medication are very common and that is one of the main reasons why more and more people are turning to alternative medicine which in general is free from side effects.

What is your experience with Topamax to prevent migraines? How soon before you felt relief? RE: Migraine Headaches
My Neurologolist prescribed it starting at 25mg up to 75 mg at bed time.
Heather R replied: "I was too concerned with the side affects of Topamax to fill the prescription from my regular doctor. I went to a neurologist shortly thereafter and he prescribed me elavil instead. It took about 1-2 weeks to build up. My mother, who also suffers from migraines, took Topamax briefly and had an allergic reaction to it (itching and swelling), so she stopped using it."
Some Dude replied: "There's a new development in migraine therapy: "
Has anyone been prescribed Topamax & an SSRI antidepressant? I'm trying to get feedback mainly. I've taken Topamax for prevention of chronic tension and migraine headaches. I've found this drug works best (for me and others). My doctor said Topamax was safe to take with certain lower dose SSRIs. I'm considering it for myself since I'm still getting chronic (usually milder) headaces while taking Prozac 20mg. The Prozac has worked well for the seasonal depression, I should add
Anyone have any personal experiences to tell?
