On No Doze, the caffeine pill.? How long does it take for them to kick in? And should I use them or not? I really need them for studying for school. Does anyone have any personal experiences?

bo.echo replied: "caffeine is normally absorbed completely within 45 minutes of taking it. If i were you, i'd stick to coffee. but if you must, make sure you drink a lot of water or your kidneys will not be happy with you."

Leslie W replied: "well, my personal experience was i was put into the hosp. bc of my heart rate going up too fast bc of those pills (no doze)."

oldtimekid2 replied: "You should notice some impact within a few minutes (10-20 at least, depending on your body). Depending on the makeup of the tablet, it could take over an hour for the whole tablet to dissolve and be absorbed or if could be less than that. Either way, you should notice some impact of the caffeine within 20 minutes. I wouldn't use them too much to study for school, though, because if you are sleep deprived, your brain doesn't retain information and it's harder to remember anything you've learned than if you slept. At the least, make sure you get a good night's sleep for the 2 nights before you need the information or you will more than likely regret staying up so late. Also, I wouldn't take too many the first time you try and I definitely wouldn't take more than the recommended amount on the package. I know of someone who had either a stroke or a heart attack because he took several caffeine pills in the same day. The reason I say to not take too many the first time is that some people are more sensitive to caffeine where they can only handle 1 pill or they even get jittery with just 1 pill... either way, taking 2 pills the first time could have really bad effects if you are sensitive like that. Aside from that, there are long term effects of them as well, but that's another story. Good luck!"

How can I get rid of a caffeine buzz? I'm at work and I was feeling tired because I got to bed late last night. I took half a no-doze an hour and a half ago so it would perk me up a little. I haven't had caffeine in about 2 months and now I'm feeling sick to my stomach. I'm eating crackers and drinking water. When will it wear off? I can't concentrate... I think I may throw up... I'm feeling very hot. I've had little caffeine buzzes before... but this is awful. Any suggestions?

smudgeward replied: "Sounds more like female hormones than caffeine, it will pass, stick to tea or coffee next time."

wag35 replied: "I would just go and through up. crackers are not substanial enough get some real food."

N3WJL replied: "Water and crackers is about all you can do. I get that way sometimes when I drink a double Latte."

SJC99Legend replied: "Drink water or eat something or try a BC powder"

Yvan S replied: "Not much you can do. Wait it out. It will pass. In the meantime, I wouldn't recommend that pill form caffeine unless you're a trucker."

Harry O replied: "dink non caffien drinks if u r a teenager u might be going through puberty"

mobileminiatures replied: "this to shall pass...."

tirebiter replied: "valium"

is taking too much caffeine bad for you? There are products out there, such as no-doze and vivarin, that are caffeine stimulants. Is taking too much of these bad? I don't mean at once, like an overdose, but a pill a day?

oink replied: "Crack is better and stronger!"

Biker replied: "Yes it is. It can cause ulcers and sleeping disorders."

bossman replied: "no..."

alex g replied: "yep"

rokkibean replied: "Taking too many are bad for you--they are a stimulant which not only effect your energy level, but also your brain and heart (and so on). You can be putting unnecessary stress on your heart."

a heart so big replied: "I don't think one a day would be a problem, but caffeine is a drug and too much (like a whole lot) can kill you."

naranjas99@sbcglobal.net replied: "I don't think it's "bad"... I have taken this for many months... but the only thing is that somehow i kinda need them... It's Not like an addiction... Take Care !"

Sue B replied: "It can make you jittery and give you trouble trying to sleep. I don't know about the pills, they probably are harder on the liver or pancreas because they are concentrated. I would stick with the natural caffine in tea or coffee."

Ghosst-guy replied: "It depends if your young and old if old no its not bad in fact it helps your heart stay strong (so does baby aspirin) if young its bad it'll stunt your growth make you hyper and unfocused paranoid and nervous"

Cappucino replied: "Definitely. It makes you more nervous and quick tempered which affect your social interaction. When taken away, you'll have headache and other withdrawal symptoms. It's best not to start If you really need to stay up use the healthy way - pump oxygen into your body by exercising, meditation will keep you balanced and alert. B-complex supplements also will rid of stress that makes you tire, thus, stay up longer. Naturally."

Kelsie S replied: "Yes, very bad. It is bad for different parts of your body. First of all for your teeth. For me I will get a really bad head ace if I drink caffeine. I'm lucky. And it can lead to diabetic. My aunt has to drink diet pops. That is the only pop her body is used to. She will get sick if she drinks regular pop. It has a sugar substitute that is like cocaine. It is very bad. It is in many things. It is the worst thing in diet tings. Or in some things that have caffeine in it. I try my best to not drink anything with caffeine in it. So far I am doing not so well."

willis3rd replied: "Caffeine, not only in pills but in drinks espically is really bad for you. You will find that by cutting out caffenie your body will actualy have more energy...(I Know sounds crazy). When you have to much caffeine your body will start to rely on it. Those pills will keep you awake but then after about four hours, you will get really drowsy/sleepy. I have not had caffeine for 7 years, because it was tearing up my stomach to where I was sick everyday for a year. And I did notice that I had more energy."

Passion replied: "Caffeine is not really good for you. It is great for a pick me up. But if you really want to know: From the website noted below: "Caffeine pills, in the form of No-Doz or Vivarin, aren't necessarily any worse for you than the caffeine found in soda, coffee or tea. For many people, however, caffeine in high doses causes adverse side effects that can include nervousness, anxiety, headaches, irritability, and insomnia (trouble sleeping). In some people, caffeine can lead to high blood pressure and heart palpitations. As far as caffeine being "speed" - you could certainly feel that way after gulping down a couple of double espressos at the coffee shop. Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant so it can induce feelings of heightened energy. Regular and prolonged use of caffeine in any form can become a habit that is tough to break. Your body can become accustomed to the caffeine so that you need to consume more and more to achieve the same effect. The bottom line is that a cup or two of coffee is not "bad" for you, but a habit of several cups per day may deliver enough caffeine to result in some unpleasant side effects.""

Donna M replied: "If you take regular doses of caffeine your body will eventually build up a tolerance for that level, so that to get the same effect you'll need to take more, and then you'll build a tolerance for that, so you'll have to take more, and so on. If you go to your health food store, you'll find many, much safer supplements that you can take to increase energy, from vitamins and minerals to herbs. Also, nothing beats a healthy diet and regular exercise."

Christopher Griffin replied: "Taking one or two a day is fine. however, if you do what i did - take 20 in ten minutes, you'll be crapping your brains out. Caffeine affects your stomach in many bad ways. On top of that the chest pain is terrible."

em9sredbeam replied: "yes, prolonged use of caffeine pills is not good for you. it puts unneccessary strain on your body, mainly your heart. it also becomes addicting to most people and quitting can cause headaches and other things."

Laura replied: "i dont think it would be bad for you there is caffinee in soda pop"

What are some effective ways to stay awake while typing? I get soooo sleepy! i think i'm immune to caffeine! I have tried caffeine pills, coffee, mtn dew, zantrex 3, etc..but something about typing makes me doze off. I'm in transcription, so if my production is low....so is my paycheck... thanks

JM replied: "Try listening to some music that keeps you kind of pumped up if you can. Otherwise maybe have a bottle of water that you sip or some food you can snack on. Anything else that you can do that doesn't require thinking but requires you to multitask should help."

CHERYL replied: "drink half a can of redline. it's pretty much the only energy drink that works for me but you have to be 18 to buy it. if that doesn't work for you i don't know what will lol"

how do i stay awake while studying without caffeine? im mormon, so no coffee =[ and i know its only ten but im already dozing off and i still have two lab reports and five pages of math to do....

Daisy replied: "How about tea?"

Russell K replied: "Sugar does it for me. When I was going to night school, I found myself dozing off until I started eating a chocolate candy bar before class."

Kate replied: "sugars....if that is fine...but yah know hun its not very easy but you could possibly turn on some music..good luck sweetie!!"

hibby76 replied: "stand up by the kitchen counter."

Caffeine pills affecting my swimming? Im taking really hard classes, and I don't get enough sleep, and during class im very tired, and id use No doze, but I don't want it to effect my swimming. Will it? If i use it in the morning and do practice in the afternoon?

HOPE FOR GOOD. replied: "Well it could, because caffeine sometimes makes you sleepy and not hyper"

Mr.GotBank replied: "ash!! wud up gurl?!"

savaughna replied: "Caffeine can dehydrate you . Dehydration is not good for your body in any type exercise. Your body needs the fluids to reach its maximum potential during it's workout."

caffeine tablets and some trouble at school...any advice? okay. so i went on an 8 week residntial camp and on the last night we had this all night movie marathon. one of my mates had some caffeine tablets also known as no doze. we weren't allowed things like red bull or energy drinks on campus to keep us awake. i knew exactly what the tablets were. i read the box. i talked to the girl that gave me one, she'd had them before. not one person in the room had previously used illegal drugs to my or anyone elses knowledge and i wouldn't expect it of any of them. so i took a caffeine tablet and some how the teachers found out that a couple of people had them. i wasnt in trouble, they didnt know me and my mate took some so everyone else got in trouble. then we found out the teachers knew and owned up to it. i couldn't let my mates get in trouble even if i didn't have much to do with but still... i made one little mistake, i had one little moment of thoughtlessness and now i might lose my house captaincy. what should i do? it wasn't like we just took a whole bunch. we knew you weren't supposed to take more than 6 in 24 hours. so we didn't. we knew you're supposed to take them at around 3 hour intivals. so we did. if not longer. we did it in what i believe was a responsible way. to be honest this wasn't very like me. i haven't got much of a tarnish on my record and given the chance i wouldn't do it again. i've learned my lesson. now what?

Mike T replied: "huh?"

Lynne B replied: "you can't have one moment of not thinking so learn from this & do whatever you have to do & be thankful it was something this little cause some people lose their lives from making poor decisions."

kjp993 replied: "Thats stupid, just drink coffee, or a soft drink. You could have avoided all this."

EAB replied: "Oh, you are taking this too seriously. It is only no doze - not heroin. They aren't illegal and you owned up. Don't do anything - let the teachers raise the subject first. If they bring it up just say you wanted to see the movie but couldn't stay awake, thought that caffine was OK because your parents let you drink coffee, apologise and promise not to do it again."

Why can I sleep during the day but not at night? I live a pretty normal life. Work/school during the day, nothing usually at night. When I am home during the day, I could have no trouble falling asleep if I wanted. I'll be reading on my bed and slowly start to doze off just very peacfully. I never let myself doze though, because that makes it even harder to sleep at night. Well then come night, and I will be in the exact same situation, after near passing out all day, but I can't sleep. Reading doesn't help, no caffeine or cigs all day, and nothing. I'll just lay there awake. Thinking, not thinking, thinking about nothing, meditating. No results. The only thing that works is Rx sleep meds, but I just don't get why I can sleep fine during the day!

dondatu replied: "If you feel that your sleep disorder prevent you for living your normal life, better consult a doctor with specialty in this field. They might put you to some tests to determine the cause of your problem."

brandi g replied: "it maybe stress related, if prescripiton medications help i would see a docotor or councelor."

sk|TTLes replied: "Try working out in the early evenings or get yourself really tired (rearrange your furniture). Clean off the sweat with a long warm soak in the bathtub. Get into your flanel PJs after drinking a tall glass of milk. Tuck yourself in with some soothing jazzy tunes. Dim the lights. Good night, sleep tight, and don't let the bed genies bite. A clean and comfy sleeping area could also be a key to a good night's sleep. Make sure you change your sheets at least once a week."

cavalierkcs replied: "From reading your post, It sounds like you may need to get more excercise. Many times people work at a desk during the day, come home tired, but are unable to sleep at night. Try exercising early in the evening before dinner. A walk of several miles, jogging or a bike ride. Avoid alcohol as it can act as a stimulant for some people. Try not to eat any food after 7:00 pm especially sugary or fatty foods. Don't lay in bed until it is time for you to sleep. If you want to read or watch TV, do it in a chair, but not in your bed. Take a warm bath or shower before you go to bed and then do not watch TV when you go to bed. It may take a couple of nights, but I bet you will find that you will sleep better. Exercise is key to getting a good nights sleep. Remember the days when you were a kid and you played all day and slept like a rock at night? Learn to play like a child again. Shoot hoops, ride a bike, roller-blade or play soccer. If you are unable to do that try swimming at the local Y. Good luck and Good night!"

cheeringleisurely replied: "It seems the obvious answer is that you are nocturnal? Sori - I had to..... what i would recommend is that you stay up all day and for as long as you possibly can , that same night, until say midnite then try to sleep, if this doesnt work, stay up again the very next day and you should surely get sleep the next night. I originally thought that perhaps you have some phobia or abuse or issue at night, hopefully not..... Go see a doctor if this doesnt work, sleeping pills could assist the first few nights sleep until your body clock gets back into normal sleep pattern. Good Luck"

Caffeine increases your IQ? I took two online IQ tests (I know not really accurate). I took one early in the day and I hadn't had any caffeine yet. I took another test later on that day after taking a no-doze pill and drinking half a grape monster energy drink. My score improved by 20 points. Apparently I'm a genius when I'm hopped up on Caffeine. Do you think they (the smart folk) should do a study on this?

gatoamor82 replied: "It just helps you focus better."

tougher than I look replied: "I'm pretty certain the 'smart folk' have done plenty of studies on it already. Caffeine gives you that kick, and helps you to stay awake(as did all the sugar/glucose in your energy drink), so naturally you were more alert, but apparently it kills your brain cells overtime(this I got from a psychology prof, so must be some truth to it). Try green tea(the original ones, not the sugary). Loads healthier."

Jenny Lou replied: "The study has already been done and yes I guess that you could say that caffeine boosted you attention span as do most but its really the endorphins accelerating so don't get too excited..the bad thing about this is that once you get a burst of energy more than likely you will crash"

N e v i u m replied: "Yeh if you look here it has the results and such of the studies scientists have carried out"

mark h replied: "....and i have been wasting my time watching jeopardy?"

Lil Trina replied: "Barney You have too much time on your hands....try to do a sing-a-long or something. I love you, you love me....type stuff"

Teenager on caffeine (coffee): is it safe? I'm 17 years old and I'm not addicted to caffeine. I don't drink coffee in the afternoon or the evening. But lately, I have been drinking coffee for 6 mornings a week for 3 weeks so as to stay awake when attending my 7:30am classes. I can't help but doze off no matter how much sleep I get at night. I only use about half a teaspoon of powdered coffee a day and it's enough for me to last the morning. I plan on doing this for the rest of the semester (about 3 and 1/2 months). My question is, is it safe and will it not greatly affect my health in the future? I'm not feeling any bad side-effects at the moment (dizziness, headaches, etc.) Thanks! Ü

Sandra N replied: "Just don't drink it after noon and you'll be fine. If you do, it'll hurt your sleep rhythm well into adulthood."

syk8858 replied: "you should be fine! A cup of coffee everyday is proven to be good for your health!"

Kurana replied: "I'm 18, and HATE coffee. =( Maybe one day."

Falcon P replied: "No it won't hurt you but tea is better =)"
