Levaquin Side Effects? I was prescribed Levaquin 750 mg antibiotic last night for a sinus infection. It's only been twelve hours and I'm experiencing pain in both of me knees that is the equivalent to a throbbing toothache (I was also given a Decadron shot & Tramodol). I've read that Levaquin can cause Tendonitis, but surely it wouldn't have such a horrible effect after one dose? I think I'm gonna to discontinue it anyway. Any info will be aprreciated.

Susiecat replied: "This drug has been linked to Tendonitis. Usually it is the Achilles Tendon which is affected. (which is the tendon that attaches the calf muscle to the heel bone) The manufacturer of the drug has put a 'Black Box' Warning on the drug. This is an indication that the drug should be used with Caution! It is unlikely that you would experience this effect after just one dose but to be on the safe side, you should contact your doctor. There are other drugs that can be used for sinus infections .You should talk to your doctor about your pain in the knees and then discuss to be put on another antibiotic ."

levaquin side effects, have yours been positive and negative? how long did it last? I'm very curious. I just finished taking 750 mg for 5 days - feel tired and out of it.

is it safe for me to be taking levaquin 750 mg at 17 years old? i have Epididymitis and my doctor proscribed me levaquin 750 and naproxen 500, i have read up on levaquin and found that many people think its dangerous. i just want to know now because i just started it and i want to know if there is a safer alternative. (only side effect so far has been depression)

ckm1956 replied: "I've taken Cipro (a related drug with the same "danger") for close to a month. No tendon damage. Nothing but a cure. Cipro & levaquin are really good drugs for problems in the urogenital system."

PLEASE ANSWER!!!WHAT IS THE HALF LIFE OF LEVAQUIN 750? i took one dose of levaquin 750 on friday and since then i have not taken the drug because the side effects.i had depression, i was bloated, anxiety, and loss of appetite and i am still experiencing the effects 3 days later even though i only took it once! i dont know if this helps but i am 17 years old and for the past couple of days i have not been eating well (very little). i would also like to know if there are any risks associated with not taking the drug after one dose. PLEASE ANSWER!!

jandy replied: "obviously, side effect/adverse reaction. list on future med visits. common side effect is muscle pains, not so often, achilles tendon rupture. You can search if half life or ask local pharmacist. Powerful drug for bacterial infection. call doc, other related w similar side effects is Cipro. I took nasty Wellbutrin last year/Oct/Nov for 6 wks, it did a number on me during that time, stopped abruptly, in the past 2 wks, actually feel a change, that junk out of my system, even though half live is shorter, I don't believe it, esp w neurotransmitter/catecholamine drugs. Drink lots of water. eat yogurt. call MD."

namairb2 replied: "Calm down. many people here don't understand that this has to do with the chemical make up of the drug and it's reaction on the body. Were all of these from just taking the dose of Levaquin? You don't take anything else like a supplement of any type?Do you remember if you ate anything with garlic or ate an apple that both interact with it too? Since the only thing I have to go on is your effects and wanting the half life I'll assume you know the rest of the interactions that would effect the chemical actions of the drug itself. The peak plasma concentrations are usually attained after 1-2 hours of oral dosing. It is also excreted in the urine almost unchanged from the original drug. The mean terminal termination half life ranges from approx. 6-8 hrs. after a single oral dose. I hope this gives you the info you asked for. Just have patience until someone knows and understands the complete question. Please consider the rest of the possibility's too. I think there should be more then the half life taken into consideration for the side effects you listed here. Good luck and God Bless"
