What would be a regular dosage of Indomethacin. Mine is only 50 MG? I've been on it for 4 days now with no real improvement.

Has anyone been extremely dizzy from Indomethacin? I just took a 50 mg capsule of Indomethacin for a headache I've had for 3 weeks now. I had a CT Scan but it was negative. I am at work now and I feel like I'm on a combo of ectasy, mushrooms and acid. This is NUTS. Anyone know what is going with me?

Malachi replied: "Sounds like an adverse reaction to the drug. Call your doctor, have someone drive you to where the doctor directs you."

How does Indomethacin compare to Percocet? Is it as strong? Stronger? I am used to taking Percocet for my gout, and it has always worked great. After a recent trip to the ER, I was prescriped Indomethacin for some reason. Is it stronger? Or less? 50 mg of Indomethacin I believe...?

essentiallysolo replied: "they are two different classifications of medication entirely, comparing them would be like comparing apples and ostriches. Indocin is to treat the cause of your gout, it is not a pain medication at all. The Indocin will bring your gout under control so you don't need percocet anymore."

indysimgirl replied: "It's an NSAID, anti-inflammatory type of med. Kinda in the categoryagory as Motrin...So it isn't a narcotic pain reliever"

Gout...anybody know what diet I should follow to prevent gout? Oh my ankle(s)....it hurts so much.? I have taken the medicine (painkiller called Novo-Methacin 50 MG Indomethacin) given by the doctor but the pain is still there...less than before but I cant walk without limping and it still hurts. I know that the cause is uric acid crystals due to eating certain foods. I know that I should avoid certain foods but what works best? Help...

mr weedzinski replied: "Keep your butt outta tha Deli."

ema_817 replied: "Cheese and red wine are the typical ones to avoid!"

the_freewheelin replied: "Ugh. Get away."

Stephanie L replied: "Hi Gout is not fun, I have had it. The only thing that worked for me is staying away from acid (tomatoes etc.) and it always took at least 3 days to go away and no pills really worked. good luck Stephanie"

Seikilos replied: ""Almost all people with gout have hyperuricaemia (too much uric acid in the blood). However not everyone with hyperuricaemia has gout. Uric acid is a normal waste product from the breakdown of purines. Purines are found in most foods but some foods are much richer in purine content. Uric acid is normally dissolved in blood and removed through the kidneys. Hyperuricaemia is the result of either the body producing too much uric acid or the kidneys not clearing it fast enough." Excess uric acid deposits crystals in the joints, causing the very painful episodes. Rich purine content foods seem to be the trigger for the gout and a diet low in purine does help to keep things in check. See the following sites: "

advil = indomethacin? can advil be substituted ? taking 50 mg indo every 6 hours for detox. headaches, prozac how much advil would be equal to what i am taking?

Rickydotcom replied: "Indocin (Indomethacin) is for gouty arthritis. It has extensive side effects. I would never recommend using it for any condition other than gout. Indomethacin is occassionally used for other arthritic conditions, but very infrequently because of its side effects. Advil is one of many brand names for ibuprofen; Motrin is another. The over-the-counter strength is 200mg per tablet. The max prescription dose of ibuprofen is 800mg every 6 hours, in a healthy individual with normal kidney function. Always take ibuprofen with food or a snack. Hope this helps. Rick the Pharmacist"

nammy_410 replied: "Indomethacin and Ibuprofen are both drugs in a class called NSAIDS, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Before you substitute a prescribed NSAID for a non-prescription one, please call your Doctor. If he is not available, at least call the Pharmacist where the prescription was filled. The drugs are NOT all equal, and neither are their side effects."
