Ibuprofen......mg??????????????????/? I took 600 mg of it about and hour and a half ago and it has still not kicked in. What else can I take? Im in alot of pain...

Ken U replied: "2 cups of sugar !!!!!!"

Gretchen W replied: "A guideline for meds is if you are given an IV medication it will have immediate effect, an IM or intramuscular injection will take about 20 minutes to work, and oral medication like Ibuprofen will take about 60 minutes. This can vary slightly as well. You just need to be patient a little longer."

country1 replied: "what kind of pain are you in? usually if im in alot of pain (really bad toothache,m cramps) i have to take 800 mg just 2 b on the safe side i wouldnt take more than 800 mg. if that doesnt help ask your doctor to prescribe something stronger"

m.glascott replied: "I am no doctor but I am sure you can take paracetamol with ibuprofen You do need to be careful though and I would suggest phoning the nhs helpline first just to be sure :) 0845 4547"

I have been taking 200 mg ibuprofen once a night for the last 3 months. Is this potentially dangerous? I had an extensive hernia repair surgery late May, and to deal with the pain and swelling, I had/have been taking 200 mg of ibuprofen once a night for the last 2 months, on top of the Hydro-ibuprofen combination the doctor told me to take the first month . I don't drink alcohol, but I have Crohn's, and I take 100 mg 6-MP (another probable Hepatotoxic) a day. My liver results have always come back fine, but that was all pre-op. Do I need to worry about this?? Should I go to the Crohn's doctor and request more blood work, or just wait until the next appointment in November? If the combination of 6-mp and ibuprofen caused some kind of liver damage, what symptoms would I look for? Thank you for your time.

Kacey replied: "if there is asprin in it that will ruin the lining in your stomach"

madpassion replied: "it can cause kidney failure. tylenol will cause liver failure"

FlGirl518 replied: "What does the label on the box say about it? Ask your doctor."

Billy J replied: "Potential for stomach ulcer"

tc 77 replied: "I don't think that that small of a dose will do you any harm. In fact I have read articles that ibuprofen may prevent Alzheimer's Disease. I think that you will be just fine. However any drug could be potentially dangerous but for the time being, if this help the pain, I would continue until your doctor appointment and se what he/she may say."

rooroo109 replied: "absolutly not your taking it once a night ? no no not at all doctors perscribe up to 800 mg in one tablet which can be taken two or three times in a day which is equal to 4 200 mg tabs of cover the counter ibuprofen . and since your only taking this once a day your just fine its when you abuse it by taking several at a time a few times a day is when you should really see a doctor for whats causing the pain ."

Shelly M replied: "I have got to throw my 2 cents in here, your health is too important call your dr on this one. Be a good patient and do it in the morning. A homehealth worker: you can take too much for too long"

drwag1 replied: "200 mg ibuprofen is not a big dose of a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory. It should not interact with the mercaptopurine, as the main toxicity of the NSAID's is on the stomach lining, or potentially (and this is a LONG shot!) the kidney. In excessive doses in a person who may be dehydrated, NSAID's may cause kidney toxicity, but at this dosage, as long as you are well hydrated, does not present any danger to your kidneys. If you did have liver damage from any of the drugs you are taking, you might experience loss of appetite, discomfort in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen, dark urine, or yellowing of the whites of your eyes (jaundice). Unless your own physician tells you otherwise, I don't think that 200 milligrams of ibuprofen is dangerous to your health.. Good luck to you!"

Tigger replied: "There is a chance of an ulcer with asperin. Also, asperin tends to make it harder for your blood to clot. You should see your doctor about something to help you control the pain. Good luck!"

how many 600 mg ibuprofen pills do u have to take to overdose? how many 600 mg ibuprofen pills do u have to take to overdose how long does it take to overdose llike an hour or wat?

Techwing replied: "Half a dozen or so is already risky, depending on how much you weigh and many other factors. The toxic dose of ibuprofen depends on many variables, so it's hard to give a specific threshold. Use the pills only as directed and you shouldn't be at any risk of overdose."

♥♥Angel♥Starr♥♥ replied: "Please dont kill yourself!!!!!!"

Cydney replied: "Anything over the reccomended dose is an overdose. If you're trying to kill yourself, it depends on alot of physical factors and the dose you take. I've taken a good amount of it, not going to mention the dose, but trust me it was a GOOD amount...and I did the samething for a week, for 7 straight days. Hell, I'm still walking and talking. If you're intending to kill yourself, don't. Most you'll get with overdosing is a stay in the hospital either in medical, psychiatric or both. I'd highly suggest talking to someone before you try to kill yourself - a therapist or psychiatrist. If you can't see one immediately call a hotline (you'll find it in the front of your phone book or call 1-800-SUICIDE). If you are highly unstable and think you can't stay safe, take a trip to the ER and you'll get the help you need. Trust me, people are more understanding when you say you feel like you want to overdose as opposed to when you actually do - things just seem to turn downhill when you do."

How long does it take 400 mg of Ibuprofen to leave your system? I know the half life is 2 hours, but that's for how much ibuprofen? I took 400 mg and I'm wondering how long it would take it to completely clear my system, and how much would be left in my system after every 2 hours until its all gone? ? Thanks

Kian replied: "You simply took 400 mg? Boy..."

Char replied: "Low doses of ibuprofen (200 mg, and sometimes 400 mg) are available over the counter (OTC) in most countries. Ibuprofen has a dose-dependent duration of action of approximately 4–8 hours, which is longer than suggested by its short half-life. Your bottle of Ibuprofen should tell you how much you what dosage you are taking."

daddyrx replied: "The half life of a drug is independent of how much was taken, with very few exceptions. It will never be 'all gone'. That's because of drug kinetics. It takes 7 elimination half lives of a drug for it to be undetectable using ordinary means and 9 elimination half lives for the remainder in the body to be deemed insignificant. Total amount in the body: 400mg at 12N, 200mg at 2P, 100mg at 4P, 50mg at 6P, 25mg at 8P, 12.5mg at 10P, 6.25mg at 12M, etc. If you keep doing the math, you will never get to 0mg, ever."

Can I take 600 mg ibuprofen and nyquil together? I haven't been feeling well the past few days and went to Student Health on campus. They gave me 600 mg ibuprofen and I wanted to take nyquil to help me sleep better. Can I take both of these?

alex replied: "wow, trick question! I whouldent take them at the same time. Maybe, take the ibuprofen 2hours before the nyquil. But, if it says do not take with other medication I wouldent!"

Patrick M replied: "I would not suggest it. The nyquil has a pain reliever/ fever reducer in the Acetaminophen which should replace your Ibuprofen. You should have 1000mg of Acetaminophen (two extra strength tabs) in you right now which is more than enough. The 600mg Ibuprofen is not that high a dosage on its own, but I would suggest trying to sleep with just the Ibuprofen tonight. If you still don't sleep try to visit student health tomorrow. Nyquil is not a very good medication to use as a sleep aid and homeopathics are a reasonable substitute. I hear Chamomile Tea works well but I have never tried it. Hope You Sleep Well Tonight"

can u take ibuprofen 800mg with cyclobenzaprine 10 mg its a muscle relaxer? i have been having back spasms and i already have some ibuprofen 800 mg and they want me to get naproxen.. i just want to save money and not get naproxen cause i have the ibuprofen.. is that ok?

Bubba replied: "Yes, but naxproxen acts differently."

painfredoc replied: "Naproxen is the better choice for this problem. Don't mix the two & use only as directed. Do it at least 10 days. Also use hot soaks, 20 mins + gentle massage. Don't try to work it out."

Kim replied: "if you go to the pharmacy to fill it they will tell you if you can take them together or not! I am sure you can! Also you can go on webmd.com and find medication interactions also"

How long for 800 mg ibuprofen to kick in? I got back from having oral surgery, im in extreme pain, four stitches on my tongue, i took 800mg of ibuprofen 50 minutes ago, when should it kick in?

Fantasynub replied: "Give it a half an hour, but I would not imagine that ibuprofen would ease the pain too much."

FlowersYes replied: "Drink some room temp. or cool liquid and relax as much as possible. It should start about now. Tension in your body over the discomfort, pain and mental worry can get in the way of pain killer. Maybe the doctor's instructions included ice cold water? (Just a guess) It's different for each person. I have a high tolerance so it takes me longer. You must also relax and not fiddle with the stitches. If it doesn't kick in in another 30 minutes call the doctor. You might need something else. Ask if there is a topical that might help like Anbesol gel."

rora replied: "It shouldn't take much longer but perhaps you take something stronger instead (not as well, 800mg is quite a lot). I had surgery on my mouth recently and the surgeon gave me something called co codomol"

Dr. Albert, DDS (UNITED STATES) replied: "JOHN, MUCH DEPENDS ON THE INDIVIDUAL. 1 HOUR SEEMS TO BE THE AVERAGE FOR MOST. GIVE IT A BIT MORE TIME AND BE AWARE THAT UNLIKE THE NARCOTIC MEDS, IBUPROFEN HAS NO MENTAL SIDE EFFECTS."

what will happen to me i took 1600 mg of ibuprofen at once please help? I just took 1600 mg of ibuprofen and i feel weird what will happen.

Travis replied: "thats nothin, dont worry"

Amanda replied: ""Feel weird" how? High doses of ibuprofen cause stomach upset, dizziness, headache. 1600mg on a single occasion is very unlikely to cause any serious problems, but if you are overly concerned, call Poison Control."

Dan W replied: "Welll, you won't get a head ache."

Mani replied: "you shoul faint and have a fit if you do send me some photos please"

AbeLincolnParty replied: "never mind about you feeling wierd, it tends to cut down on blood flow to your kidneys. Keep up the negative behaviour with drugs/alcohol and you will end up a walking human wreck, needing a kidney or liver transplants but with doctors not wanting to waste scarce resources on someone who does not value himself anyway."

RaTz replied: "What is that, 7 pills? You'll fall asleep but mostly nothing."

Kingster replied: "If you do and you do not reply to this post, then you are already DEAD! Seriously, you will fall into a slumber like precious Snow White, and no one will kiss you, therefore you will sleep quietly alone in the darkness cramped in a box. Make sure to strap on your Buzz-Lightyear and Woody for company just in case. Life sucks...but you don't have to be."

John de Witt replied: "You have a decent chance of getting a bellyache."

cherrypied replied: "You'll be fine. Just rest a bit. I'm thinking of taking some myself..."

Casie M replied: "depends on your weight but too much can result in metabolic acidosis. But doctors usually prescribe 800 mg and have patients take 2 tablets at a time for severe pain so its not going to hurt you."

Is 400 mg Ibuprofen 5 days in a row dangerous? I have taken 400mg of Ibuprofen, all at once, 24 hours apart for the last 5 days. I have read about the side effects and know that I am not supposed to take Ibuprofen too long, so is this too much? If this is okay, when is the point where I should stop? Thanks!

e replied: "taking so much can damage your liver, but I guess it depends on how many you take a day. sometimes if you have an inflammatory joint you have to take it everyday but its depends on how many you take - I would call a doctors office and ask."

Kim replied: "That isn't a dangerous amount of Ibuprofen. If you feel side effects (such as stomach pain) stop taking the meds. Too much Ibuprofen can eat away at your stomach lining and cause some real pain. If you want to be a little more careful, take more like 200 mg every 8 hours with food. I recommend you consult with a doctor or a pharmacist whenever you are concerned about medication."

Is it okay to work out after taking 800 mg ibuprofen? I got my wisdom teeth pulled a week ago, so I have been taking prescription ibuprofen every 8 hours every day. Is it safe to go to the gym? I'm worried if it will effect my heartrate too much... Thanks in advance! Thanks, I had impacted lower teeth and the surgery was pretty invasive, and I have some residual nerve pain in my other teeth and chin. OS said it was normal but I wish it would go away, already.

Gentleman replied: "I don't think it will but you shouldn't be feeling any pain . It's seems to be long one week for Ibuprofen . I had my wisdom teeth taken out and I only took Tylenol extra strhengt 3 times for one day and it was gone and I had all four taken out . Good luck and have a great day ."
