Coffee Vs Tea Caffeine Facts in Answers
What is the difference between the caffeine/stimulant effect of chocolate vs. coffee vs. tea? They all affect me differently. I read a previous response to a similar question and to save time - it is not as simple as caffeine is caffeine and they're not the same thing. If they were, they would all affect me in the same way. Thanks for any insights....

msjantastic replied: "Depends on the type of each your speaking of. White tea does not have as much caffeine in it as black. Same goes with coffee and chocolate as well. You will have to be give more detail for a correct answer. I can tell you that a cup of regular coffee compared to a cup of black tea has 10 times the amount caffeine in it."

Miki replied: "The amount of caffeine and the strength. Chocolate only has a very small amount of caffeine in it. Tea depending on the strength has more but with milk it is diluted and is weakened. Coffee is the strongest but I stilll depends with milk"

sunshine replied: "chocolates are destressing and relaxing, where as caffeine is a stimulant and can cause insomnia"

How much caffeine is in tea vs. soda or coffee? I gave up soda because it's so bad for teeth, but I still drink a ton of tea and I was just wondering how safe that is.

Marianne_not_Ginger replied: "coffee has the most........then tea.........then soda. My doctor told me I'd haave to drink three sodas to equal the same amount of caffiene in a cup of coffee. Does this help at all?"

Dan replied: "The web page below has a list of how much caffeine is in different products including specific brands of soda. Coffee has 60 to 150 milligrams (mg) of caffeine, depending on how strong it is. Tea has 40 to 80 mg of caffeine. Coca-cola has 64 mg."

curlyhair774 replied: "First Coke (or similar), then tea and then coffee"

Caffeine content in tea vs. coffee? I switched from a prolific coffee drinker to tea for more than a year now, and all of a sudden I wonder if tea has the potency to cause insomnia as well as coffee. Initially I think that the caffeine content in tea is much less than that of coffee, correct me if I'm wrong, I drink lots of oolong, some earl gray and green genmai tea from time to time, does that contribute to my insomnia? Bonus to those who can recommend me some good nightime tea that'd help me go to sleep. I'd prefer a herbal infusion over milk and honey because of near zero caloric intake. Thanks a lot!!

toucanstan21 replied: "coffee does have more caffeine than tea and the whole constant caffeine thing can definitely cause insomnia as for a tea that helps with insomnia, try camomile tea. this website shows some others too if you scroll down to the tea part"

Ph34r replied: "You can look online or search for an asian market where you live. My local oriental supermarket has a few herbal teas for sleep, but I've never tried them. This is one of the brands I've seen. I actually really like their Jasmine tea, and have considered trying one of the medicinal teas. "

Amanda replied: "Tea averages half the caffeine of coffee per cup and if you drink a lot of short-steeped green tea and use your oolong many times, you'll get even less. But yes, I got severe insomnia when I suddenly switched from green tea to black tea - not sure if it was the extra caffeine or lack of theanine. Chamomile tea does what it's supposed to do, but avoid it if you are allergic to ragweed! It gave me an asthma attack the day after drinking it. I sometimes drink rooibos or honeybush when I need something decaf at the end of the day."

singletrack65 replied: "Coffee has on average 2-3x the caffeine of tea. So if you drink enough tea it could keep you up. So many things have caffeine, that something else may be adding to your problem. In fact, a 5oz bar of extra dark chocolate has as much caffeine as 1 cup of coffee, so if you're eating chocolate that could do it too. See the link below for the caffeine content of many things you may be consuming."

Cup of tea VS Cup of coffee, what has more caffeine? Ok, there seems to be lots of conflicting info on the net. So does anyone know the actual answer, what has more caffeine, a cup of tea or a cup of coffee? Thanks :-)

Tom replied: "It isn't a stupid answer... so you must know that there is more caffeine in a cup of tea... I know it because it was in my latest paragraph of biology!"

d replied: "coffee as more caffeine in it"

Alternateye replied: "A cup of coffee has more caffeine than a cup of green tea. Black tea has more caffeine than green tea and most other teas. Caffeine content depends on how the coffee is brewed or the tea is steeped. Loose leaf tea has more antioxidants and caffeine than tea bags. Hope this helps!"

agent4927 replied: "Coffee, by far. I don't know where you have read otherwise - see link below which gives you the average caffeine content by beverage. e.g. Brewed Tea 5.9mg / oz Brewed coffee 13.4mg / Oz (Caffeine content)"

stella replied: "A cup of coffee has more caffeine in it"

Sheila replied: "Coffee,for sure"

Amanda replied: "An ounce of dry tea leaves has more caffeine than an ounce of ground coffee (I'm not sure by how much). However, you use 2 grams of leaves to make a cup of tea, versus 14 grams of ground coffee to make a coffeehouse cup of coffee. So twice as much caffeine gets into your cup of coffee."

Coffee VS Tea: What are the Pro's & Con's? I've been on Coffee since I was 5. I've been drinking Tea recently because it tastes good/different, and I heard it had more caffeine than coffee. What do you think is better, Coffee or Tea? And I mean basic, Regular Coffee vs. Regular Tea. pros and cons are helpful. Thanks. oh, and to add...Yes! It is worth it to keep drinking coffee and tea!. Maybe it's an addiction most of us have.

Fury Fiona replied: "Tea tastes a lot better and I beliefve contains less caffeine."

Maisy replied: "neither hot chocolate is the raining champion"

Big Tre replied: "Tea is better for you.... has more antioxidants. I love em both though. Just swish with water when you finish with either... so you don't ruin your teeth."

Hi Y replied: "tea is betta 4 u but my opinion i like coffee better and im 13 ahaha"

katezambelli replied: "tea has lots of antioxidants for you and i heard that black coffee is good for the heart."

Dillon R replied: "Coffee and tea both stain your teeth. Coffee tastes disgusting. Tea tastes great Coffee has 5x more caffine than Tea does. Coffee smells disgusting. Tea smells great Both give you bad breath after awhile. In the end. Is it worth drinking Coffee and Tea?"

Jeffery G replied: "I heard that there was more caffeine in tea too. I think it is an amount per gram kind of thing though, so since a handful of tea weighs less than a handful of coffee you still get more caffeine in a cup of coffee than you do a cup of tea. Also tea contains more antioxidants, especially green tea. I prefer the taste of tea but I like to have 2 sugars in it. I don't drink coffee but if I did I think I would need about 6 to get past the bitterness of the stuff. I am occasionally taken in by the smell of coffee which I think is great but the taste almost always disappoints me."

Janmitra replied: "You asked what is better? Actually speaking none. Example is like this, if tea or coffee drops on flour or on clothes, stains does not go away easily or takes permanent place. So think about our body when we take it."

Swa121 replied: "Green tea has caffeine but it's usually only a fraction of what coffee has. Tea does taste better and is much better for you than coffee. I'm currently addicted to organic black tea with sugar added. I've never had any trouble washing tea out of my clothing and I don't think we should base health on if something stains. Blood is one of the hardest things to get out of clothing but it is necessary, and I know that is from the protein."

advout woman replied: "Ok. Coffee has more caffeine.Tea has antioxidants beneficial for your health. There are also herbal teas which have health benefits.Although too much tea drinking can cause the heart to beat faster.Take your pick they are both addictive.I think coffee tastes better & I love your hairstyle."

singletrack65 replied: "I drink both, although I drink more coffee. Tea has to be reasonably fresh, otherwise it's just rotted plant material. Coffee should be fresh, but most people drink the cr*p out of a can or jar that has to be stale. If you drink fresh roasted / fresh ground coffee it shouldn't be bitter. I love it black, but Folgers / Maxwell House / etc. needs a ton of milk and sugar before I can stand it. Both come in endless varieties & flavors (both artificial and natural). Both are good for you (in moderation), but because coffee is higher in caffeine, it is more addictive. Arabica coffee has naturally half the caffeine of Robusta (cheap canned stuff) and tastes 100x better. Good decaf coffee (not the garbage in the green cans) tastes just like regular coffee. Both can stain your teeth (especially dentures), so brush your teeth regularly. I've been drinking coffee for years and my dentist didn't know until I told him. Both are actually good for the gums. The only bad thing about good coffee is that, once you've had it, you'll never be happy with diner coffee. As far as staining clothes means it's bad for you: cranberry juice & beets stain clothes. Does that mean they are unhealthy? Not good logic."

Coffee vs. tea. Coffee a drug argument? I have a co-worker that keeps pushing his views on everyone here saying that no one should drink coffee because it is a "drug". ::sigh:: It's getting really annoying. He says that coffee is a drug because it contains caffeine. All the while sipping on his caffeinated tea. I have tried arguing that both coffee and tea have caffeine a by-product but since it is not a chemical (coffee coming from beans and tea coming from leaves) that it is not a drug. (I quoted the M.W. dictionary's first def of a drug about chemical alterations as my argument) Does anyone have any points they can give me to use? I know this is a REALLY stupid argument for adults to have and it has gone way past what I should spend my time on but I was just wondering.

Soup Dragon replied: "Just tell him "one man's meat is another man's poison". It wouldn't do if we all like the same things, just imagine how boring that would be. If this has no effect when he starts babbling on stick your fingers in your ears and sing "lalalalalalala I can't hear you lalalalalalala" This usually shuts anyone up! Hope this helps and have a great week HUn ;-)"

Violation Challenged replied: "DOes he drink Cola's??? Caffeine in in them also. Has he checked the ingredients panel on a box of cereal, donuts, loaf of bread, hot coca mix??? all have added chemicals/drugs.... Does he eat free range chickens, beef, pork or fish? If not he is ingesting the drugs given to the domestic animals. And especially if he is eating fish from CHINA...."

Birdman replied: "Not a valid argument. Tea has caffeine too. So, if coffee is a drug, so is tea."

What is the difference, caffeine wise, between coffee and tea? Iv'e heard that coffe caffeine stays in your system longer than tea. Aggressive vs. non- aggressive or something. Isn't caffeine, caffeine? the more details the better.

xxxxlilonstitchxxxx replied: "here's a caffiene chart"

mak replied: "Tea consists of nicotine and coffee is having caffeine in it. Consuming of either of these two in excess is harmful to the heart and liver but two cups a day avoids you to face heart disease or heart attach."

McDonald replied: "Try: or "
