Questions and Answers
Is the pill Celebrex supposed to make you feel high? The doctor gave me this for pain and swelling in my hands (I had carpal tunnel surgery about 2 months ago) I just took one about a half an hour ago and am feeling well, a little high---kind like I'm on Vicoden or Percocet. Does anyone have anyone have experience with this medication you can share that can give me some insight?

Lisa replied: "Not really. It's a pain reliever, like ibuprofen. You might be feeling dizzy as a side effect though. Celebrex is not a narcotic."

Can one take Celebrex and sleeping pills together? on my sleeping pills it says do not take with products that contain diphenhydramine. Does celebrex okay with sleeping pills?

tycobb99999 replied: "It sounds like you already did. I'd trust Yahoo Answers when it came to my health... Idiot."

29jen replied: "yes"

bettyaboop510 replied: "I wouldn't do that."

western new york replied: "go here for your answer "

Adawg replied: "You should consult with your doctor."

TweetyBird replied: "Diphenhydramine is the active ingredient in many antihistamines. Diphenhydramine has a well known side effect - it causes drowsiness. It may not be safe to take a sleep aid along with a drug that contains diphenhydramine. So that's what the warning means. Celebrex is an NSAID - a non-steroidal antiinflammatory drug. It does not conatin diphenhydramine. There is no drug-drug interaction with sleep aids. You may take your Celebrex and your sleep aid."

I'm experiencing the side effects of Celebrex after just using it for two days, should I go to the doctor? I just took two pills of Celebrex for two days and stopped because I was not feeling well but now I still feel like this and two days has passed. I feel cold-like symptoms like fever, sore throat and headache. Also what I'm worried the most is that I feel a burning sensation in chest and stomach, difficulty breathing, dizziness, decreased appetite and a constant feeling of thirst. Since I just used the pill for two days, should I go to the doctor or these symptoms will soon go away? PLEASE HELP ME

postalbb replied: "Call your doctor right away. They will probably go away, but you might need something to counteract any allergic response you could be having. Don't wait until tomorrow, call now. This is important."

My friend got an abortion Sat but they gave her celebrex and a antibidic and pain pills. Why celebrex? This is the girl I was telling you about that was rape by her ex so please no rude comments.

Andrea H replied: "cramps"

Ashleigh H replied: "Celebrex is for inflammation. Its an NSAID which helps swelling. I am sure they have a good reason for giving it to her. It probably helps with cramping. They usually just use Ibuprofen."

Can CELEBREX be used to cure back pain for both men and women? Can the drug celebrex be used to cure back pain for men and women? Does it make a difference if the pills are generic? Pleasee answer soon! Thank you!!

Nicole G replied: "Celebrex is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that is used to treat pain in both men and women. There really isn't a drug that will cure back pain, but it can assist in relieving the pain. Generic is virtually the same drug,"

SkepDoc 2.0 replied: "First, what kind of back pain are you referring to. The most common kind (>90%) is basically from sore muscles, tendons, ligaments and other connective tissues. The generic name for this is lumbago. I'll assume you mean this, and not a herniated disc. Second, in that case, there isn't really a "cure". Lumbago is a self limited condition. That means it will get better in time on its own, it isn't really a disease that needs curing. Almost any kind of over the counter pain killer can work, as can heat or ice, stretching, massage, physiotherapy etc. Celebrex is a special kind of NSAID in that it uses a different biochemical pathway than ibuprofen, ASA or naproxen. It is known as a "COX-2 Inhibitor" (COX stands for cyclooxygenase, which is a chemical pathway used by NSAID in their suppresion of prostaglandins) Celebrex will work, though it is not particularly potent, and it is quite expensive relative to other options. It is not a first line treatment of common lumbago. There is no such thing as generic Celebrex as it is still under patent protection."

Brue H replied: "Be careful with what you choose This painkiller has been linked to increased risks of stomach bleeding, kidney trouble, and liver damage. And according to a 2005 study, people taking 200 mg of Celebrex twice a day more than doubled their risk of dying of cardiovascular disease. Those on 400 mg twice a day more than tripled their risk."

Does anyone know the general doseage for Celebrex? Celebrex is an anti-inflamatory. I was given a sample bottle a couple months ago by my doctor, but it doesn't say whether one pill or two. I have 200 mg, and I weigh approx 170lbs. Does anyone know?

chapaton replied: "Yes. Usually it is one 200mg tablet a day. We usually only give 2 for people with severe arthritis or really bad days..."

REP replied: "Celebrex is dangerous."

Can you drink while taking celebrex? I'm taking 200mg of celebrex daily and it says not to take with alcohol. But does that mean I can't drink at all or just for a period of time after I take the pill?

**BaRt Is In dA HoUsE** replied: "that means you cannot take alcohol even if you are under prescription of your medicine. Drink alcohol after your medicine is finished in maybe a week's time^_^"

I take Celebrex for a short term 7 days. Can I have a a few glasses of wine or beer while taking this? I take1 x200 mg pill a day in morning for foot inflammation.

Luv replied: "Side effects from Celecoxib may get worse if you drink alcohol-containing drinks. If you have persistent stomach upset, vomit blood or what looks like coffee grounds, or have black, tarry stools, contact your health care provider immediately. Avoid alcohol containing drinks while taking Celecoxib, even with short term use of Celecoxib."

Kirill K replied: "Celebrex may cause dizziness or drowsiness. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol. Serious stomach ulcers or bleeding can occur with the use of Celebrex . Taking it in high doses, for a long time, smoking, or drinking alcohol increases the risk of these side effects. Taking Celebrex with food will NOT reduce the risk of these effects. So, you'd better stop drinking for some time :) Good luck!"

Celebrex and OTC pain pills.? I am taking Celebrex (200MG) for arthrites in my knees. It does a good job for inflamation but not for pain. I'm wondering if there any OTC pain pills that I can safely take while taking my Celebrex?

oscarschic replied: "I took Celebrex for 3 1/2 years for osteoarthritis in my lumbar back; starting out with 100mg, increasing to 200mg, and then 400mg daily. I stopped taking it 9 months ago after all of the bad publicity about COX-2 inhibitors, for fear of long term damage. It is not recommended to take OTC pain relievers along with Celebrex, as this can possibly lead to liver damage and other side effects. I stay hydrated, stretch and exercise regularly, and take 500-800mg of Ibuprofen, only when needed. This has helped tremendously. I found the longer I took the Celebrex, the less effective it was. There are other alternatives for anti-inflammatory medicines that are not COX-2's: Lodine, Arthrotec, and DayPro are a few. Talk to your doctor."

All About Winston replied: "Inflammation has 4 features: swelling, pain, redness and heat. Celebrex should address all 4 symptoms. Celebrex is a NSAID, which stands for Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug. If you are taking Celebrex, you can not take any other NSAID, such as: ibuprofen (e.g. Motrin), Naproxen (e.g. Alleve) or aspirin (e.g. Bayer aspirin). However, you can take OTC acetaminophen (e.g. Tylenol)."
