jane d replied: "I have given this answer several times... happy result... Here it goes again.... I used Tetracycline for a long time.. NO Longer use it or need it... I use OTC "PURPOSE" bar of soap/ not the luqid or gel the bar only made by johnson & johnson.. blue box.... treat individual pimples.. blemishes.. with a low strength benzoperoxide cream... only applying.. dabbing.. to the pimples themselves.. this works by oxidation/reduction reaction.. so dont rub it in.. dont put anywhere else on face.. cause.. will cause excess drying.. and.. make you look worse.... if needed... for moisture... lotion.. etc.. ASK FOR "Nutraderm" the ORGINAL not the new stuff.. this works well and doesnt leave a residue on your skin... I am so happy now...... as many other people are also... DONT SCUB FACE>> DONT PICK or POKE>.. dont use... proactive.. or anytypes of acids.. such as lemon.. etc... this has worked for me and others.. again I am now completely off all long term antibiotics and dont even need make up... ;-p"

trivial obsession replied: "Well I'm sure it's different for everyone, but I have been using minocycline for just over two years now. I started it when I had pretty bad acne and after taking it for about 6 weeks, I haven't had more than 4 mild pimples in the past 2 years. Well I wish you the best of luck! I hope you find something that works for you!"

I have started taking minocycline for acne a few weeks ago, and now I have a whiteish tongue? I'm 13 and i've been prescribed minocycline for my acne problems. After a couple weeks of taking it I saw that I got a white-ish tongue. I also have braces and I got a TPA (Transplatal arch) a few days ago, which is when i first noticed a white tongue. I thought maybe it was because of that but when I try to brush it off it doesn't really want to. It looks kinda bad and I was wondering if there is anything I could do about it? I can't eat dairy for 2 hours after and before taking my dose so I will have to try eating more yogurt tomorrow. I have a sore tongue but that's because of the TPA which I just got, and my ortho said that would be normal for a while cause it presses onto your tongue. I started using the crest mouthwash a few days ago, maybe that will help a bit. Raymond: I know about ane, I have an infection somewhere that's causing me to have it, that's why i'm on antobiotics.

mlgable replied: "Sounds like a thrush infection aka yeast. Try eating yogurt with live active cultures over the weekend then see the doc on Monday if you still have the white tongue. If it becomes sore over the weekend see a doc. Also anytime you are on antibiotic you need to eat plenty of yogurt with live active cultures or take acidophillus capsules to help prevent yeast infections."

Pamela S replied: "The first answer to your question is correct. You need to also use a really good mouth rinse, Peridex or even Crest has one over the counter you can buy."

Jessica replied: "I'm also taking minocycline 100mg twice a day for acne and I'm now on my second month. Antibiotics are known to cause yeast infections and as some stated it sounds like that's what you have. A white-ish tongue is thrush and should be treated by a physician. I'm quite sure your dermatologist is well aware of side effects and can prescribe something for you."

How Long should I be on Minocycline for my acne? I have been on Minocylcine for four months, it has worked well, but I'm tired of taking a pill everyday. I'm scared to get off Minocycline, because my acne may flare-up again. I'm scared it will damage to me for being on it for so long.

David s replied: "Mel, if you're serious, read this blog before taking any action Thanks to this blog, it helped me a lot to find the best teeth whitening method. Hope this helps"

How long does the Minocycline pills take to clear my acne? I just got put on the minocycline pills for my acne a day ago. So far i have been following the exact directions that my doctor has told me to do. I have to take 2 pills a day (Morning and Night) along with washing my face with a special cleanser proscribed by my doctor with special pads, How long will my acne start to go away after i follow the directions perfectly?

marshall y replied: "You will start to see results in a few days. It will takes weeks though to clear your face, depending on the severity of the acne. Are you aware that minocycline is less effective if taken with food? It looses 1/3 of its effect if taken with milk or milk products. Try to take one hour before a meal or two hours after eating."

Brittany replied: "You should start to see it clear within a couple weeks. If there are no results within 6 weeks, you may need to try a different medication. My dermatologist said that 6 weeks is the longest you should be on an oral medication to start to see results. I began to see results within a week of use, but I had to discontinue using it due to the side effects. Lots of headaches and nausea. Hope it works well for you!"

Has minocycline worked for anyone to treat acne? Is it worth the risky side effects? I was just put on minocycline to treat acne and I'm kind of unnerved by what I've read about it. I was just wondering about what kind of results other people have gotten from it, and if it's worth the risky side effects.

Tara T replied: "If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point. For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all. Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck. Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:"

gabbagabbahey999 replied: "hi there, check this site out, make sure you check the site map also, you are bound to find something: good luck, if it helps please remember me! ta-ra"

sulaiman s replied: "I don't think it is risky."

Will the medication minocycline cause acne to get worse before it gets better? I havent taken it yet but i want to but i dont want my acne to get worse to because then i wouldnt do it.

Diana replied: "The trips I took to the dermatologist cost me way more than this lol and the minocyline they gave me just made my acne worse You should check out this website what sells acne cream , it got rid of mine in 10 days or the money back Diana xxx"

Does minocycline get rid of adult acne? I have only in my adult years suffered with acne. My doctor prescribed minocycline and told me I'd only have to do maybe 2 or 3 rounds of it before my acne would completely disappear. I haven't been able to find anybody who has had this experience. In fact, it feels like I've only heard negative reactions. Anybody have success with minocycline?

How Effective Are Doxycycline, Minocycline, and Tetracycline in Treating Acne? I'm taking 200 mg of doxycycline a day for my mild inflammatory acne, and I tried lose dose accutane before that, but it failed. Are doxycycline, minocycline, and tetracycline very effective in teating mild to severe acne? I hope this works, because I've run out of options.

Michelle B replied: "Go to Walmart and purchase some sulfer. It's a yellow powder. Mix it with some type of moisturizer and pat it on the acne. I promise it will work...just DON'T get this in your eyes it burns really bad!"

Roger McGee replied: "I noticed very little change after starting tetracycline. I used it for about 3 months, then gave up. I would not recommend it. All in all, it was a waste of money, stained my teeth (a common side-effect of long-term antibiotics), and made my acne harder to treat because it built up a resistance to antibiotics. From what I have heard (And semi-experienced - although I have never tried accutane), the only oral medication that really consistently works is regular to high dosage Accutane, otherwise just stick with topical stuff. Good luck!"
