SL replied: "Both could be habit forming and are muscle relaxant. It usually makes you drowsy within 30mins after you consume the drugs. But doctors usually do not prescribe it unless it is really an extreme case. eg patient is in a lot of pain and need to rest but is unable to. As to how much you take before you feel "high"? Well that really depends on the weight of the person in question, and whether or not if he or she has been taking the medication for a period of time. Generally speaking, a person with a heavier mass need more medication and if the person has been taking the drug for some time, tolerance for the drug in the body would have taken place hence the drug would not be that effective and would need a higher dose to get "high"."

All BZs exert their pharmacologic effects by facilitating the GABA-A receptor, a chloride channel. Soma is a barbiturate-like substance. Whereas BZs increase the likelihood that chloride channels will open in a GABA-dependent manner, barbiturates not only increase the probability that they will open but also the duration of their opening. Moreover, barbiturates can act independent of GABA in high concentrations. The mechanism if action of Soma is not fully understood. Although having relaxing effects on its own it is believed by some that a metabolite of Soma, meprobamate, is resposible for the most its anxiolytic properties. Meprobamate is better understood and is known to the GABA-A receptor like the BZs but this binding is probably done on a different site of the receptor. I don't know how much Soma it would take to "feel" it but 10mg of Valium should be more than enough to "feel" it. Also, it should be noted that BZs have a very high therapeutic index whereas barbiturates generally do not."

SZO replied: "Normally, basic drug tests for work purposes do not test for carisoprodol. They only test for 5 basic drugs that are often abused. It will only show up positive if the test is specific for it. Since he only took one yesterday, then he is fine. Levels may still be low to cause false positives."

BB replied: "No, cocaine is a different type of drug alltogether. As long as that's all they're testing for, you'll be fine. And if the other drugs were prescribed and you have proof, you will be fine even if they do show up on the test."

Is there any way to potentiate Soma (Carisoprodol)? And is there any way to counteract the drowsiness? Any help would be appreciated. I'm actually asking for either answer. Not a combination of both.

You had one beer, 3 hours ago, you'll be fine. They say not to take it with alcohol, because alcohol can increase the drowsiness."

Is it safe to mix Carisoprodol with Hydrocodone? The Carisoprodol is a muscle relaxer I think, and it says to take one every night before bed. And then the hydrocodone is take 1 to 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours as needed. They were both prescribed by different doctors..can I take them both together? Oh I just read on the carisoprodol container that it's substituted for Soma. I don't know if that helps, I've never heard of either one of them lol.
