And i need to know went am i suppose to take clomid, during my first day of my period or what? i have already gone for a check up and the doctor said my fsh/lh is all alrite. so what am i suppose to do now? can my husband take clomid? but my period usually last for only 3 days? so when am i suppose to take it??

mnvikes8484 replied: "ask a pharmacist, you want to be sure. im not 100% sure off the top of my head on how youre suppose to take it so i wont answer that. yeah, it could help you get pregnant if your problem is low FSH/LH (hormones that control your cycle) its usuaully the first line for fertility treatment, helps a lot of people."

vishnu replied: "These drugs have so many side effects. If you want to take any medicine for pregnancy it is better to take unani medicine which is a herbal medicine with no side effects. contact:"

Sarah C replied: "I was given clomid to help conceive my 2 children. I took it on cycle days 2 through to 6. I was given it to regulate my cycles - I had very long ones and clomid just boosts your body into ovulating at the right time which makes it easier to pin point the right time to do the deed. I started on a 1 pill a day which didn't work and eventually put on 3 pills a day which bingo - did the trick both times. I now have a 3.5 year old and a 2year old!! Good Luck"

elementis02 replied: "I was on that for 4 months. Take it on the fifth day of your cycle. So the doc will give you 5 pills. And you take them days 5-10 and you will be fertile on about day 15. and no your hubby cannot take them either."

amonaida@sbcglobal.net replied: "I am disappointed your ob/gyn has not educated you on this. If you are really irregular on your menstrual cycle then you should take it days 3-7 if your pretty much regular and only have anovulation then you should be taking it days 4-8 of your menstrual cycle. Now when it comes to ovulation it can normally occur anywhere from the 5th day of your last pill to your mid-cycle to help you boost your chances go to your local pharmacy and purchase an ovulation predictor test (they usually come in 7 per box) so start using them from day 5 of your last pill and take it from there. Good Luck.."

mommy replied: "You take clomid on days 5-9 of your period. You have to have your ob/gyn monitor you when taking clomid. And No your husband can't take clomid. Has he been tested??"

Amanda replied: "You start taking clomed the fifth day of your cycle for 5 days dont have sex while taking"

TRISHA replied: "Indication: Clomid is often the first choice for treating infertility because it's effective and been used for more than 25 years. Clomiphene is given to women who are not ovulating normally. Clomid and Serophene, the brand names of clomiphene, are antiestrogen drugs. As a result, they cause the hypothalamus and pituitary gland located deep in the brain to release hormones that will stimulate the ovaries to produce eggs. GnRH is released from the hypothalamus and FSH and LH are released from the pituitary gland. These fertility drugs are often used in combination with assisted reproductive techniques or artificial insemination. Use: The typical starting dosage of clomiphene is 50 milligrams per day for five days. You take the first pill on the third, fourth, or fifth day after you start your period. You can expect to start ovulating about seven days after you've taken the last dose of the drug. If you don't ovulate right away, the dose can be increased by 50 milligrams per day each month up to 150 mg. After you've begun to ovulate, most doctors suggest taking clomiphene for no longer than six months. If you haven't become pregnant by then, your doctor will probably prescribe a different medication. Effectiveness: Approximately 60% to 80% of women who take clomiphene will ovulate, and about half will be able to get pregnant as a result of taking the drug. Most pregnancies occur within three cycles. Side effects: The side effects of clomiphene are generally mild. They include hot flashes, blurred vision, nausea, bloating, and headache. Clomid can also cause changes in the cervical mucus, which may make it harder to tell when you're fertile and may inhibit the sperm from entering the uterus. Like many fertility drugs, Clomid can increase the chances of multiple births, although it's less likely to cause the problem than some injectable hormones."

nadine_forbear replied: "Listen honey, call the Doctors office and talk to them."

How are you suppose to take Provera and Clomid? Ok...so yesterday they prescribed Provera and Clomid....(50mg)...and I am planning on strarting tommorrow...I'm just not exactly sure how I should be taking them....The nurse drew a little chart for me and this is what I understand...I start Provera and on the 5-9 day I'm suppose to take Clomid and 12-18 day I should have sex...is that the way it suppose to be.....and How long will I be on the provera for?

K M replied: "My advice.... call your doctor and/ or pharmacist ASAP because they are the only ones who truly know how you should be taking your medication."

TTC #1 replied: "Provera helps you start your period. and clomid helps you ovulate..i would talk to your doc.."

Jennifer D replied: "Your doctor should have gave you instruction on how to take Provera and clomid. My doctor told me to take the provera for 5 days and wait for my period and then five days after the first day I started I was to start with clomid. You should be on Provera for 5 days and then on clomid for five days"

What's the chances of multiple births if I take Clomid and I don't have fertility problems? I am ttc with a donor and my doctor feels that my chances are better with Clomid. However, I have a child and never have experienced fertility problems before. It didn't take last cycle so I'm trying Clomid this time. Am I at risk for a multiple pregnancy?

David M replied: "no greater with clomid"

mamabear replied: "yes but a very small risk"

tryingforbaby2 replied: "I am doing the same thing....TTC with donor. I had my first IUI 7-2 but I think I am getting ready to start my period. I did take clomid the first time. From everything that I read your chances of multiplies go up only 10%. Most cases with Clomid and multiples you get twins. My doctor told me that the highest he has ever seen is triplets. Good luck!!!!"

Is it wrong to take clomid without telling my husband? I have health problems that make it very difficult to conceive. Yesterday I went to the doctor and she gave me clomid. My husband agreed to try and conceive this year but then quit his job. Now he wants to wait again! We are both getting older and want to have a child. Should I go ahead and take the pill or should i wait? We both have wanted children and he was ok with me going off bc six months ago. I've had a lot of medical problems. Its the money hes worried about and hate to tell him that we will never be rich and are about as comfortable as we will ever be. I don't know how to get him to understand this. I don't want to do things behind his back, but his mom said that is the only way she got his dad to agree to have children. He gave the same excuses( money).

Dalice Nelson replied: "Be on the same page as your husband. I don't think it's ethical to take something to increase the odds of doing something that he does not want right now."

**What??** replied: "you should get with your husband first....You should never do anything behind his back. Seriously....dont do that without him knowing....especially after he has said wait a while."

elizabeth l replied: "I think its better to wait because if some thing goes wrong then you cannot defend for yourself. Or make him understand how important it is to conceive before getting older."

suni replied: "yes. wait and becuz u should both b happy when u do get pregnant"

Just Me replied: "You need to keep your husband in the loop, not out. I can understand your feelings, my husband put off trying when I was ready for months. Talk to him, tell him about the Clomid and discuss together you taking it and what that means. You don't want to do this behind his back."

butterfly!11 replied: "This should be a mutual decision between a husband and wife and is suppose to be a fun process. =) I am to on clomid and my hubby even went to the dr. with me and we made the decision together. You will have some side effects from it and it will be more helpful if your hubby knows that you are on meds and what you are going through. Plus with being on Clomid it's going to be a chart process on when you can conceive. You are right though if every one waited until they were financially set there would never be babies being made. You just have to learn how to adjust to a new lifestyle and live without things. i/e going out to eat, buying a new outfit. etc."

choice_4_men replied: "Put the shoe on the other foot for a minute. Just as you say he's making excuses, I see you doing the same thing. "You'll never be rich"? Well there is a BIG difference between being rich and having no job to support your family. I would expect a teenage girl to think like that, but you're supposed to be an intelligent adult. I think if anything he's being responsible and honest while you're being the opposite. Simply put, would you be OK if he was dishonest and cheated on you to get what he wants? No, you would never. So why would you do the same to him?"

How long did it take you to conceive on clomid? I was on clomid and got frustrated after two to three months and stopped! But I'm thinking about going back on it, How long did it take you to conceive on clomid or did you conceive? Is it normal to feel stressed out and depressed over not being able to conceive?

Sunny replied: "i'm on it for the 2nd month in a row and so far not pregnant. and yes of course it's normal to feel stressed out and depressed! i know i sure feel that way!"

reba replied: "I used it for 4 months, and during month 4 it quit working for me. They put me on Femara and I got pregnant that first cycle. Unfortunately, it wasn't a sticky bean. Anyway, consider Femara....it doesn't dry up your cervical mucus as bad as clomid, and I didn't ovulate as late as I did with the clomid either. Good luck!"

Kelly replied: "Firstly it's TOTALLY normal to be stressed about it, unless you're one of the lucky ones who conceives naturally first time! Secondly, I have two Clomid babies. First conceived cycle one (days 2-6, 50mg) after 18 mths TTC naturally. 2nd baby conceived cycle two (same dose, days etc). I have 7 friends who have conceived on Clomid - average about 3rd cycle, some 4th. One friend with PCOS conceived 3rd cycled after 3 1/2 years TTC naturally. I can be a miracle drug for some. Stick with it if you can and your doc supervises you. Good Luck! ps All the Clomid babies I know are girls.. including my two.. apparently it favours girl babies."

sweetnunziata replied: "I will be starting my 3rd cycle of Clomid this month if no pregnancy. It's incredibly frustrating when you thought getting pregnant was going to be a lot easier than it turned out to be. Who knew it would be so hard and take so long! It's difficult when it seems to be happening to every other woman except you but we can't give up, our turn is coming!"

How many visits to your doctor did you take before you got Clomid? I am just curious as how many visits to the dr. do I have to take before i am put on clomid. I am just a lil anixous to ttc threw..i have been trying for 2 years and still nothing..please give serious answers. after they test you, whats the next steps?

redhotmomma19712002 replied: "When I was put on Clomid it was after the Dr. had me chart my temperature for three months to first find out if I was ovulating. After this I was given the clomid. It worked for me the first try."

Miki replied: "they do all these tests on you and your husband. then if all the tests are okay they give it to u. it takes about 3 visits. i am spelling it wrong but one test is a histopeniogram, where they inject barium into your vagina to check if your tubes are blocked. this is done a few days after u get your period. they check your husbands seman levels they do blood tests to see if u r ovulating,to check for hiv, check for hormone levels and pregnancy test. they also do a pap smear. after they test u they give u the results. clomid is not for everyone. so before they give it to u they need to make sure that 1. your tubes are not blocked 2. u can in fact get pregnant 3.u don't have other factors that are keeping u from getting pregnant 4. to make sure that its not your husband that is keeping u from getting pregnant. if they find u can benefit from clomid they give u the prescription. i took this 5 years ago so i don't remember exactly but i believe u begin taking clomid 5 days after u get your period. i got pregnant in my 3d month of trying. i was also taking metformin with the pills."

Mayvis replied: "It took us one full year of "natural" trying a bunch ot tests, one ovary removed and one additonal visit to get Clomid, Two months after surgery we were pregnant! I'm doing it again for our second child but no luck yet however, i have high hopes this month! Good Luck and I hope you get pregnant soon!"

Tina B replied: "Are you seeing a regular OB or a reproductive endocrinologist? If you've been trying for 2 years, I would think that you would have already been offered Clomid. If you are seeing a regular OB, I would switch to a RE. They will do more advanced fertility procedures."

HS Mom replied: "Perhaps Clomid isn't what you need. It only helps with annovulation. I had TTC for one year and then the doc put me on Clomid. I have PCOS w/IR and annovulation. It took 18 months on Clomid and 250 mg to even ovulate. Then I m/c'd the first time, got pg the next cycle, and carried that baby to term (with a LOT of complications). You need to see a doctor who is going to take you seriously and do a lot more. What has s/he done for you so far? Clomid is not some "magic pill". If you have other issues, or don't have the annovulation problem to begin with, it's not going to help. You and your partner need to have full fertility work ups. Then if there is nothing wrong and you find you're not ovulating, you can start Clomid."

How many rounds of clomid did it take for u to get Preg?? I was just given clomid and provera today and I am so excited to see if it all works out. I was hoping to hear some other women experiances with clomid and getting pregnant. How many rounds did it take you?? Thanks!

twinmomma replied: "i took 7 rounds with no aveil!! ended up doing IVF to conceive twins on our first try!! i really hope it works for you!! good luck!!"

*Mommy Bimbo* replied: "6 rounds and no baby...but got preggo without it"

Dolly replied: "I took six and nothing. I also took one round of Follistim injections and will do another round soon. Nothing so far. It took me six months to get over the disappointment after taking the injections. I had five follicles and none were fertilized. Sometimes I think it doesn't matter what I do, until God's ready to bless my husband and me with a child it won't happen. This may not be what you want to hear, but don't get your hopes up too much - the disappointment is devastating. Good luck to you."

Tracy replied: "I tried 4 rounds and it didn't work (ended up doing IUI and worked on first try - twins!) but they say to try 4-6 cycles (months) and if it hasn't worked by then it probably won't. Good luck! :)"

becca adams replied: "It took me 2 rounds and I was so excited. Then I hada miscarrage when I was 7 weeks along. I plan on going back on clomid next month."

madismama replied: "I am sorry I don't have something more positive to say but I just finished my first round of Provera/ Clomid last month! I was so excited positive I would Finally Ovulate and be able to get pregnant (I only Ovulate regularly once or twoce a year). I was absolutly devistated when I found out yesterday that I didn't even Ovulate last cycle. So I started provera again yesterday and am going to be getting the higher dosage of clomid (100mg) this next cycle. It looks like we will be neck and neck with our cycles! I wish you all the best and pray it works better for you the first month then it did for me!"

Ann Z replied: "It took us 7 rounds: 1st: 50 mg, didn't ovulate. 2nd, 3rd, & 4th: 100 mg. 5th: 100 mg + hcg trigger + IUI. 6th & 7th: 150 mg + hcg trigger + IUI Conceived on the 7th round (our 3rd IUI cycle)"

rclowdis replied: "9 months and hoping this is the month. Just recently lost my grandmother-in-law and hoping she had to go to heaven to pick us out one :(. Good luck and I hope you succeed. Lots of baby dust!!!"

How long did it take you to get pregnant when the doctor put you on Clomid? I am just wanting to hear from you mommies. How long did it take after your doctor put you on clomid did you get pregnant?

NathC replied: "My best friend took Clomid, the first time she got pregnant after 3 months I think and the second time right away. But you might have to wait longer, don't give up!"

CW replied: "My sister took clomid for six months. 30 pounds later, she wasn't preggers yet so she stopped taking it. Right after that, she got pregnant. Hang in there!"

Nicky replied: "I didn't get pregnant on clomid. I was on it for six months and then was set to a fertility specialist. I however have PCOS and it was more than likely not going to work for me. We conceived on hyper-ovary stimulation and ovulation drugs (which is the next step up in treatment from clomid)."

mak replied: "It depends on LH hormone surge and the formation of eggs. As soon as the follicles mature, by the grace of Almighty, eggs will be generated and you may get pregnant immediately."

Tiara replied: "I was trying for my 2nd for 19 months, and my doctor gave me clomid, I only needed to take it once, I got pregnant immediately. good luck"

What Dosage of Clomid and on What Cycle Days Do You Take it to Increase Your Chances of Having Twins? I really want the twin experience and I understand that Clomid increases the chances of having twins. Can you please tell me what dosage (how many milligrams) of Clomid you have to take to up your chances of having twins? Also, what cycle days are better to take Clomid? Thanks so much!!

Haylee S replied: "They will not give you clomid to increase your chances of having twins. Beside clomid would be the least effective fertility drug to give you twins as it have the lowest rate of multiple birth. Fertility drugs are for people who are infertile, not people who want twins."

Gigi replied: "I took 100mg days 5-9 and got pregnant with one baby the first try. I've read that at days 5-9 eggs are riper, vs days 3-5. Not sure on which is the higher probability of twins, but got informed about the risk of twins regardless. Having twins is very risky. They tend to be premature, and have other risks in utero. good luck!"

Purplish replied: "I want the same, but Clomid doesn't promise for the twins.. its just that it makes you ovulate, thus more fertile eggs... and if semen hits more then one egg... you will have twins. Usually Clomid is taken 50mg in the beginning. And it will all be prescribed by your doctor, once s/he is done with your thorough case study. Clomid is taken on the 5-9 day after 1st day of your periods. Good luck."

how long afer finishing a round of clomid does it take to ovulate? This is my first month of clomid. I have to take it days 3 through 7. I'm on CD4 now. I was wondering how long after finishing the clomid are you supposed to ovulate. My husband and I want to time our intercourse as close to ovulation as possible. yes, i've already had a ultrasound and doc checked my follicles and made sure I did't have any cysts before i started the clomid.

byron replied: "Generally, about 5-10 days. Don't use OPK's until 3 days after your Clomid round... it may cause a false negative. Are you having an ultrasound to check your follicles?"

PhenomenalWoman_ replied: "This was my first month taking it days 3-7 and I ovulated on day 16 (9 days after my last pill). They say you generally ovulate 5-9 days after you last pill, but I've heard women report it to be even later sometimes. The other poster is right about the OPKs. The clomid can cause false positives if you start testing too soon. Don't use them until you are at least 3 days beyond your last pill. Good luck and lots of baby dust!!!"

Rachael T replied: "For me: 1st round - tookit 5-9 and didn't ovulate till cd 20 2nd round 5-9 ovulate cd 19 3rd round 2-6 ovulate cd 13 No PG resulted from any of them"
