Has anyone tried generic bupropion SR? I'm being swithced from WellbutrinXL to generic bupropion SR. I've read a forum on the internet where people hate it, and say it doesn't work like Wellbutrin. Has anyone had a good experience with the generic?

no_nonsense replied: "Watson generic buproprion SR is made by the same company that makes Wellbutrin. Some generics are actually made by the same company as the brand name."

winston_smith_amm replied: "all generics are supposed to be exact copies of the brand name drug. i started wellbutrin xl a few weeks ago, i havent felt much of a change, but i seem to be pretty resistant to drug treatment"

should i buy the brand name drugs or generic i have insurance my meds are bupropion sr, risperidone, lexapro? just wanted which would be better for me i dont care about the cost.

marycatherine replied: "Buy the brand that has been prescribed for you, don't cut corners where your health is concerned."

P replied: "here is a support site with doctors and groups... ask your doctor otherwise"

Jody replied: "By all means, get the Brand Names. Some are hundreds more a bottle, some are two hundred more a bottle. Let the insurance company and other consumers worry about it. You "just wanted which would be better for you" "you don't care about the cost." Generic Wellbutrin SR vs Wellbutrin XL ( Have access to both) Difference? And has which one helps with lbs? Okay, was prescribed Bupropion HCI (SR) this time around, but I usually take Wellbutrin XL the pharmacist told me they're both taken twice a day, and they're basically the same. But, was just wondering if those who have taken the generic saw any differences, and if there was any weight loss accompanied with SR.

texjeff111 replied: "Wellbutrin XL is normally taken once daily and the the SR is taken twice daily. Again the word normally is important. Some patients require additional doses of either due to their medical condition or metabolism."

Question about Wellbutrin SR/XL (Bupropion SR/XL)...? My insurance said that these forms of Wellbutrin are covered: bupropion (Wellbutrin) bupropion ext-release (Wellbutrin SR) bupropion ext-release 300 mg (Wellbutrin XL) Does that mean that the generic form of Wellbutrin SR is the same as the generic form of Wellbutrin XL, just that XL is bupropion extended release at 300 mg????

jellybeanchick replied: "SR is extended release. There are several different strengths, and 300mg is the largest and newest. I think the XL stands for extra large or something, I don't know, but it is extended release also (The full product name is Bupropion HCl ER [extended release] XL Tabs, 300mg). I should know, I work as a chemist at a company that makes generic bupropion and I test it all the time!"

malraene replied: "Yes they are pretty much the same, the SR is sustained release, and some people take it twice a day, the XL at 300mg, only has to be taken once a day, it releases even slower into your system."

fiVe replied: "It's like the last person said, SR is sustained release and has to be taken twice a day, while XL is extended release and is only taken once a day. The thing about the XL is that only the 300mg pills have gone generic. The 150mg pills have not, yet."

does bupropion (generic Wellbutrin) come in a 200 mg XR version? ? I dont want to do 300 mg, and I feel better on 200 mg but cant find any info on whether bupropion or budeprion comes in a 200 XR strength. I am not so happy with the SR stregnth and would like t try the XR once a day dosing.

daddyrx replied: "XR is only available in 150mg and 300mg strengths"
