Risperdal And Zoloft Information in Q&A
What happens when you take zoloft and risperdal together at the same time? like if i take zoloft and risperdal together? is that harmful? watll happen?

Toss that Yeyo and Run replied: "There are no interaction between those drugs and there are many who take them including my dead grandfather who was on this combo for ten year minimum, and probably closer to 15. He took xanax on top of that all for treating obsessive compulsive disorder, but it could treat other things as well. I am not giving you advice though. If you call the pharmacy they will tell you if these or anything else you take has an interaction, and you can call your doctor to get the go ahead to take them."

Can alcohol be mixed with Zoloft and Risperdal? I am going to a club tomorrow night and there is going to be a lot of drinking. I don't want to feel awkward or left out. I am taking 100 mg of Zoloft and .25 mg of Risperdal. How much is too much?

shaneris replied: "No. See"

Rachel B replied: "It could kill you."

кяιѕтιηα ✯ replied: "No, they can't be mixed and it's for good reasons. Mixing them may cause an unsafe shift in your emotions. If you're going to drink anyways, make sure you take the meds early in the morning and drink at night, even though it's still going to affect you. Anti-depressants make you feel the booze faster and stronger, so watch how much you drink, it definitely will not take as much to get drunk as before. Be prepared for a massive hangover as well. Above all, check with your doctor first."

B replied: "no... that's kind of a dumb question to ask... why do you think they put "DO NOT TAKE WITH ALCOHOL" on the bottle? Zoloft is an antidepressant so is alcohol, Risperdal is an antipsychotic which could be fatal if taken with alcohol, so put all three together and you have a good chance of 1) dying and 2) having to be rushed to the ER... It's mainly up to you what you decided..."

Ben replied: "No no no. Don't drink any alcohol. It will have adverse reactions to your medications. It can really exemplify the side effects of those medicines. Even just a little bit of alcohol. A couple of weeks ago I just had a few sips of beer, and it had me so totally out of it. Making the drowsiness side effect of my mental health meds become really prominent. Be really careful. I strongly advise to stay far away from the bottle. If possible, don't go to the club."

someguy replied: "I think the reason they put those warnings on the prescriptions is because those medications can intensify the effects of alcohol. Can is the keyword here. I have taken antidepressants for years, and some of them have increased the effect of alcohol, but the one I'm on now (even though it says not to drink with it) seems to make it more difficult for me to get intoxicated. Just because you've never combined them before I'd say take it slow. A drink or two won't kill you though."

What will Zoloft and Risperdal do to me if I take them? I'm 16... if that helps. I'm ... I was anorexic at 5'6'' and 94 lbs and now I'm 110. So I'm not too bad. I just really dont think the shrink knows what hes talking about. See, I try to manipulate them to where they wont really give me the meds, but obviously that doesnt work... By manipulate I mean I giving them obvious answers and stuff like that...

blue_integrity replied: "wow only 16! your growing up and finally feeling how it feels to become a women step by step. i have never takened zoloft but have taken risperdal. im guessing you have some sort of mental disability. its ok, you will grow out of the meds and live a normal life. SMILE...its a better medicine."

stuart28345 replied: "Well, if you don't like the way they make you feel then stop taking them. I am personally against the whole antidepressent thing. They made me start having panic attacks out of the blue. Read about how they "think they may work". This industry is enshrouded with much unverifiable diagnosis etc. Judge for yourself."

Thin Kaboudit replied: "If you have a serotonin imbalance they will make you feel better, if you don't they will mess you up."

kitpc replied: "I assume you've seen a psychiatrist or a neurologist and have a prescription for these medications. My husband takes Paxil and Risperdal. He was suffering from severe depression and anxiety attacks. Since he started taking these medicines, he's back to normal. He's doing great. His behavior is normal. He doesn't act like he's "high", if that's what you're worried about. He just feels happy and active again."

butterflies3030 replied: "When you are in a calm state your brain produces serotonin. Now when you take Zoloft or any of the other drugs like this, this drug is taking over and your brain actually slow down the making of the serotonin. I think it is a bad decision to do this only because if you are on it for awhile you might have problems getting off it because you brain will rely on this med."

Dove4ever replied: "i take them both for panic and anxaitey, i will tell this all the answers i read most of them have no experience taking them..zoloft is the most sucusfull pill for panic and no side affects.there safe meds"

Cecilia c replied: "Im on zoloft and i feel wonderful! no stress at all. Does have some sexual side effects though"

why does Zoloft+Risperdal make me sleepy? have been on 250mg Zoloft for OCD. Doctor added 1mg Risperdal (before going to bed), tried it once and the next day i couldn't stay up more than 4 hours. Went back to sleep again. is that normal? am <50kgs (underweight to be specific) Forgot to mention that i suffer from an anxiety disorder (obsessive compulsive disorder). been on Zoloft for 2 years. Have anyone been on Zoloft and Risperdal (combined) for anxiety disorder??? i would really like to know

Jon replied: "Zoloft and Paxil are both absolutely horrible for you. There are many other ways to solve your mental health problems without taking a pill but sadly, most doctors don't consider those options. I was on Paxil and it did the exact same thing. It put me to sleep. I remember sleeping for several hours in addition to a regular 8 hour night of sleep! As far as Zoloft, you should definitely read this: 1. Birth Defects 2. Sexual Side Effects 3. Suicide Not to mention if you should decide to stop, there is a high chance for WITHDRAWAL SYMTPOMS. Best of luck and I hope this helped you. Jon"

damnyoudemons replied: "Yes, it is normal. I was on Risperdal for several years and tried several different antidepressants (including Zoloft), and I was ALWAYS tired. Antipsychotics like Risperdal and most antidepressants carry a sleepiness effect, but the degree to which a person is affected varies. I would discuss your sleepiness with your doctor, as lethargy can be a very big incentive to stop taking the medication. Also, on a side note, if you choose to stay on Risperdal I can guarantee you will not remain underweight. Risperdal and similar antipsychotics make people pack on the pounds. As for the person who said that Risperdal has bad withdrawal effects, they vary from person to person and if done by a licensed professional, a person might not experience any withdrawal symptoms at all."

risperdal and zoloft now I'm paranoid ? i was taking risperdal and everything was fine until i started taking zoloft for social anxiety 4 days ago. 2 days ago at night when trying to sleep I started having these thoughts that I can't sleep , omg I can't sleep!!! OMG OMG. I panicked , my heart was running fast , I was cold etc. Now I'm paranoid that it might come back, I'm worried too much , and I keep thinking that.Today I'm feeling much better , but I wanted to know is this paranoia caused by zoloft? because the zoloft side effects didn't say anything about paranoia or is it a reaction? i stopped taking zoloft and I'm feeling much better

Fire Fighter replied: "I don't think that what you are describing is "paranoia." This sounds more like anxiety attacks. You could try asking your doctor for some Xanax to take at night to relax you and help you sleep."

X Y replied: "if you repent your sins and confess Jesus as your Savior He will be with you...you will be healed i talk about salvation , not about religion , churches etc"

obey replied: "Yea it takes some time until ur brain gets used with it,just chill it's normal thing.I had horror movie feelings with zoloft so np ;p"

Risperdal and Zoloft have me constipated what should I do? I was on Zyprexa and Prozac for about 8 years. I gained a ton of weight on them. Now I've been on Risperdal and Zoloft for a few months and can't go to the bathroom without taking a harsh laxative. I've tried all sorts of stool softeners and veggie laxagtives and alot of fiber in my diet. I can't really afford to go back on Zyprexa, there's no generic. My pharmacist suggested Miralax twice a day to help. Nothing so far. I am up in the air as to what to take.

Nordictat2 replied: "That is not good at all and having to keep taking laxatives to just have a bowel movement is not good either! I think you need to tell your doctor about this AND get off the meds or try something else you can afford!"

Betty M replied: "You can either drink some prune juice, or take Metamucil which is over the counter or Lactulose, which is really, really good and works for chronic constipation, which I too have because of medications. You do not need a prescription for it, in Canada anyway. I am quite sure the latter will work for you and has no side effects, other than feeling a bit better. It is quite natural as well. Take care and wishing you much wellness."

Lea replied: "If you really need to go, biscodyl is the way to go. For people taking opiates for pain relief, it is recommended that they take both a stool softener and milk of magnesia or senna. While you are not taking an opiate, the regimen might still be beneficial. If it doesn't go away, you should talk to your physician."

Is it Zoloft that is making me constipated? I was on a combination of Zoloft and Risperdal. I thought it was the Risperdal making me constipated. I've been off of Risperdal for a week. How long does it take to get Risperdal out of your system? Now I'm wondering is it the Zoloft doing it?

dutchess replied: "I took zoloft. i hated it it makes me sick to think about it even. mit did the opposite and gave me the runs, zoloft sucks ."

Volusian replied: "Yes, constipation is a side effect of Zoloft. Here is one such article: If yoy want more information, just google zoloft "side effects" constipation"

My wife's on risperdal and zoloft.just found out she's pregnant.she had 3 miscarriage earlier.? Anyone is/was in similar situation and had a healthy baby??

actressinthemaking2005 replied: "i've never had that situation before but i think u should go to the doctor as soon as possible and find out what the options are especially since she's had 3 miscarriages. wish u guys luck"

Brie replied: "I was on Celebrex and my doctor told me to get off it. I quit taking it as soon as I found out. Talk to your doctor and see if you should get off of it slowly or all at once because you can never be sure on how the body will react."

thinmint replied: "I have safely taken Zoloft while pregnant with 2 I believe, but recently quit the Risperdal. Well, a bit over a year ago anyway. I didn't like the weight it packed onto me. Anywho...my doctor told me risperdal was NOT safe for during pregnancy. I would check online resources, your local pharmacy, and with your doctor. If he or she does not know for SURE, then check with a psychiatrist. NOT a psychologist. A psychiatrist will know the newer meds for the stuff your wife needs, and will most likely be more up to date on what is newer and safe for pregnancy. I'm considering checking into stuff again, though, due to risk of early delivery, by the time I get used to the meds, the pregnancy will be very close to ebing over, if not already over. Encourage your wife to ask and double chek about stuff. I am sorry for your losses.....it's tough. Been there, done that....3 MC myself..13 weeks and 2 at about 5.5 weeks, plus a 25 week delivery of a little girl who we got about an hour with.....please be careful!!! Good luck!!!"

What happens when you stop taking Zoloft? I've been taking 100mg Zoloft and 10mg Risperdal a day and recently stopped cold turkey... What could happen?

adopt_koli replied: "It is best to be weaned off of them. I forget exactly what happens of you quit cold turkey, but it can mess up your brain, just like taking them can. You should join one of the many support groups on yahoo (Yahoo Groups.) They'll have a lot more REAL information (stuff the doctors or the drug companies won't tell you.) Search terms, Zolof, Paxil, maoi, ssri, antidepressant There are many helpful alternatives to prescription medicine. Many of which are all natural and work 10 times better, usually with no to few minor side effects. Exercises, diets, pet therapy, herbal supplements, etc. (I looked for the group I used to belong to, but it's no longer in my list. I was taking one for some side effects, but the only thing it did for me was make me depressed and I couldn't concentrate. I was only on it one week. My doctor insisted I try it for a whole month. NO WAY! I was pretty healthy before. The "cure" was much worse than the minor irritation I had been dealing with. I guess that's what I get for having a pill happy doctor. - He's long gone now though :- ) ) If your doctor won't wean you off, find someone who will. Email me if you need any more details."
