Find Resistant Yeast Infection Diflucan in Questions
Does diflucan work/yeast infections resistant to treatment? For a yeast infection, does it work for you? I am finding that the 7 day prescription works best for me and at times I need 2 weeks of that. Also, has anyone else had a yeast infection that has almost gone away but not quite even after 2 rounds of prescription yeast inserts? What the hell gives? Am I alone here?

lestatie_2000 replied: "try monitoring your yeast intake, ie too much white bread, or too much beer. try cutting yeats out of your diet altogether for a while to see if that helps, also try taking a probiotic like acidophillus, its a wonder bug, helps to restore all your natural flora!"

mamiforu replied: "Are you over doing the prescription? I had a bad experience: last year there was a 6-month streak where I was constantly getting yeast and BV infections (eww right??). I was constantly b/w antibiotics for both and of course BV medicine has a high chance of resulting in yeast infections. So I finally went to see a "better" doctor and she told me to stop jumping on the meds so quickly...and to just wait it out a little bit and if things don't get better then get meds. That advice pretty much worked and I was able to get my body back in sync. I have done the two-diflucan or two-3day insert treatments. But I was advised to do one treatment then wait like a week, then do the next treatment. That works for me. I also liked the 7-day treatment, but as I normal again...the three day became sufficient. So my overall advice is to back off the meds..."

Anyone alergic to diflucan and have persistent recurring resistant yeast infections and oral thrush? Helppppppp pleaseeeee........ Have an allergy to diflucan, face breaks out in a rash and throat swells. I'm on steroids for adrenal insufficiency and inhaled steroids for asthma. On top of the basically normal monthly yeast infection (no rude comments) I've had oral thrush for months and months. Nystatin helped but didn't get rid of it Amo B mouth washes (custom made) didn't help... Finally doctors argued with me it wasn't a fungal infection. Well i begged a doctor to culture it after months of it and well it is a fungus.. Now trying mycelex (sorry can't spell) i've used them before, and had no reaction, but up till december i had no reaction to diflucan. I know there is a chance of an allergy but don't know what else to do. Yogurt, probiotics make my stomach hurt like no tomorrow, garlic doesn't help. regular mouth washes, peroxide diluted mouth washes do nothing, cleaning tounge leaves it too painful to even talk or eat. I'm soooooooooooo in dire need of help doctors are even clueles Thanks to any helpful advice... anyone out there allergic to diflucan, severe actual allergies not just bad reactions.... It's a rare allergy, but i am the unusal case in almost everything. i'm also alergic to codiene, loratab (vicodin), amoxicillin, spivara (all sent me to ER)..

Yen replied: "i was getting monthly yeast infections and was tired of getting over the counter medicine because they stopped working. I started douching with two little caps of hydrogen peroxide with two cups of water for like five days, yeast infection is gone. Make sure the hydrogen peroxide only has distilled water and peroxide no other ingredients. a bottle of hydrogen peroxide should not cost more than a dollar. Ohh and I had a pap soon after and got a test for yeast infection and it came out clear. my ph balance was excellent too. it seems that your immune system might be low, try to take some vitamin supplements and keep eating yogurt even if your stomach hurts, what do you prefer white toungue or stomach pain?"

Oh no. Took medicine when I didn't have a yeast infection...? I took some Diflucan (powerful oral pill that treats yeast infections) that my doc had prescribed me with antibiotics about 3 weeks ago. I thought I had a yeast infection but now I think it was just soreness from sex cuz the pill had no effect. Ive heard this can create a treatment-resistant yeast!!! Will I ever be able to get rid of my next yeast infection?? Im so worried...help please...

Dan replied: "I wouldn't worry about it."

snowwillow20 replied: "Yes you will, don't worry."

Van Bo replied: "What you heard is true, it is over-hyped though, but so what, it makes no difference, it was only a possibility. You will be fine."

Texas RN replied: "You'll be fine. But, in the future, you might want to eat yogurt when you're on any type of antibiotic. It is a more natural way of keep the normal bacterial flora stable. You might want to eat a single serving container (2 a day) for the next few days to help balance it out again after taking the Diflucan. :0)"

Yeast infection...Please HELP!..going crazy..? I started an antibiotic last friday and got a yeast infection monday. I called my doctor and she gave me diflucan on tuesday. I took it at 2am(i fell asleep). Things just continue to get worse. When should i expect to see an improvement? When should i call or go to the doctor about it. p.s. ive had problems with yeast infections for over 3 years..Diflucan messed my liver up and ive started to become resistant. Monistat or any kind of cream makes things worse.

pinkhelokte2003 replied: "Wow I think you should call the Dr asap, usually Diflucan does miracles within 24 hours of taking it."

Gokey replied: "um go to a specialist and ask him or hr for help and if they cant help you then nobobdy can"

lolly poop replied: "If its on and off like that the 1st thing you need to do is GET OFF THE ANTIBOTICS that could be the reason they keep coming back..Theres canasten cream available at any pharmacy it stops the itching and its really good..also try wering lose underwear and a cold bath before bed will really help cool the itch and wont be as bad you will at least be able to sleep."

Dr. Smith replied: "wash with salt water & tomato soup"

â„¢ILikeShinyThings replied: "Have you ever tried a home remedy instead of using drugs for your yeast infections? "

katie replied: "If the doctor knows diflucan is messing up your liver they should not give it to you. It sounds as though you need to find another doctor. This is a little tip to help next time you get an antibiotic start eating yogurt before you take the med and eat it once or twice a day while taking the med and continue for several days after you are done with meds. This helps with keeping a balance of good bacteria in you while the antibiotic is destroying them this is what causes yeast infections with antibiotics. Also keep you area dry and try to wear loose fitting clothes and panties the more moisture down there is a breeding ground for bacteria(cotton panties are best) At night don't wear any panties and let it breathe."

Anal Probing Panda replied: "add some milk, flour, and eggs, and you've got bread!"

Kristen B replied: "what i usually do is eat lots of yogurt and within a day my yeast infection is gone. i have had so many yeast infection i just eat at least one cup of yogurt a day and it helps to prevent me from getting one. hope this help hun and good luck :)"

Caitlyn replied: "that's weird, i just had my first yeast infection last week and diflucan made a huge difference. the yeast infection should be gone after a couple days so i would definitely call my doctor and go see her immediately. something drastic needs to be done so you can stop going through this pain."

Yeast infection, bacterial vaginitis *and* a UTI ... is my vagina committing suicide? No, I don't really think my vagina's trying to off itself, but clearly, I've made it very unhappy somehow. I've had a yeast infection for 7 weeks and had tried everything to get rid of it. Even 5 doses of Diflucan in a row couldn't kill it off. (I did all the eating yogurt and taking acidophilus stuff too.) I thought it was a resistant strain, until today, when I went into a doctor for like the fourth time. Before this visit, I hadn't had a full exam done down there — just quick swabs to check for yeast. Well, today, the doctor checked me out. Her initial reaction? "Oh my." She found yeast, but she also found a bitchin' case of bacterial vaginosis. Oh...I also tested positive for what I can only assume is a pretty new UTI (since I haven't experienced any UTI symptoms yet). I'm taking Diflucan, Flagyl and Cipro to take care of all my problems now, and the doc says the only reason Diflucan didn't kill the yeast last time around was because the BV was making my vagina a veritable breeding ground for nasty lil' microbes. Whew! That was long-winded. So, on to my questions: Have any of ya'll had any combination of yeast infection, BV and/or UTI at the same time before? Does anyone know how to explain what might have caused both these problems to arise at the same time? Any advice on how to prevent both BV and yeast infections in the future? I'm taking a probiotic with nice, friendly "good" bacteria in it already and have amped up my yogurt consumption. Any tips besides that? By the way, if anyone tells me to "stop sleeping around" or to "shower, dummy," go play in traffic. I've had the same partner for 2 years, and we use condoms, and I shower and clean really well (but not with soap because that's a healthy vagina no-no) daily. Hey guys...no need to bother telling me how to treat yeast infections, by the way. I've had this one for 7 weeks and have researched EVERYTHING. (Turns out, the BV was the only reason the YI wouldn't go away.) And to the first answerer ... I agree. The world is totally dying.

***SHAMUS*** replied: "OOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGG Whats wrong with people! the world is dying"

foss² ♥ replied: "i've been cleaning my vagina with an anti bacterial soap since i can remember. and i've never had any of these problems. maybe that is why your getting them? i was always told to clean with a soap with no fragrance. ?? but i 've never had any other problems besides a uti that i get occasionally."

dbraunofva replied: "Hmmmm...either you've been doing some really crazy things with your vagina or something really odd is going on somewhere else. You need to get your doctor to get out from between your legs and look at the rest of you. Why is your body suddenly so vulnerable to these infections? That's the question that you need answered. Are you sure you didn't try something really crazy like using a peppermint candy as a suppository before oral sex? Do you use condoms every time? How is your boyfriend feeling?"

Kate replied: "Wow, that does not sound like a very pleasant thing to be going through! I have never had a combination of the three, but there was a period of 2-3 years where I was having constant yeast infections. No sooner would I get rid of one, then a few weeks later I would have another. The over-the-counter medicines weren't working at all, and even though the Diflucan worked, it didn't stop it from coming back a few weeks later. Regardless of the season it kept coming back in cycles, and I was extremely fed up. Like you I had tried eating my weight in yogurt, made sure I didn't sit around in a wet bathing suit, dried off "down there" thoroughly after each shower, didn't use irritating soaps, etc. Those things did help with the severity of the infections, but did not stop them from happening. Finally, since I was seeing my gynecologist anyway because I was going to start taking birth control pills, I asked her if she had any idea why I was having so many infections. She said that women who have really irregular periods (like I was having) often have problems with yeast infections, because the hormones disrupt their whole reproductive system and the pH of their vagina is wacky, making it a real breeding ground for persistent infections. They did an ultrasound on my ovaries and uterus and discovered that I had a fist-sized ovarian cyst... a major cause of hormonal disruption! Once the cyst went away, so did my yeast infections, so for me at least I believe that was the reason. If you don't think your hormones could be a potential cause (I was having a lot of abdominal pain, thought it was constipation... surprise, cyst!), take a look at your diet. Do you eat a lot of sugar? One of the things my general doctor suggested to me before I saw the gyno was to cut down on my refined carb and sugar intake, because too much sugar will mess with your body's pH and make you more susceptible to yeast infections. Also, if you use pads during your period, try using tampons because the pads create a moist environment, which will definitely help any potential violators grow and flourish. Finally, make sure you are wearing 100% cotton panties. Polyester does NOT breathe, and will trap moisture close to the skin. Cotton breathes and keeps you dry. If you already wear 100% cotton, try changing them more often. I am not suggesting that you are nasty and don't change them enough... it's just that some people have very sensitive areas, and what is "enough" for everyone else might not be enough for you. Anyway, I hope that helps, and good luck in the future!"

Kaley replied: "Wow.. I have never had a UTI, but I have had a yeast infection and BV together at the same time. It wasn't fun, and I thought I had a stubborn strain of a yeast infection. I was given a cream to insert into my vagina for the yeast infection and pills (I don't remember the name) for BV. Have you tried the AZO brands? They are pills in with the vitamins or feminine products (depending on what store you go to). They are about 6 dollars, but they really help. I use the AZO Yeast and it prevents me from getting yeast infections (and I never eat yogurt!). Every time I even feel a little itch down there, I swallow one of the pills and it goes away! I know they make AZO UTI too. I heard they work well at preventing and treating the symptoms (but it doesn't cure the UTI or yeast infection), but I've never had a UTI so I don't use them. Drinking cranberry juice or taking cranberry supplements can help prevents UTI's as well. As for your BV, my doctor said I got it from wiping wrong. I know it's gross, but hey, I'm not the only one who does it. Make sure to wipe front to back (even though it's easier to wipe back to front). Your feces particles can get in your vagina and can cause BV. Seriously. It's gross, but thats the most common cause of it. I hope I helped! Good luck and I really recommend the AZO products at preventing yeast infections and UTI's!"

Bolt replied: "I'll just add a couple of thoughts: 1 - have you been checked for diabetes? Frequent infections are a common symptom, and often they are difficult to treat while blood glucose remains high and uncontrolled. Don't assume that because you eat well, exercise, and are not overweight that you can not be diabetic - lots of people are surprised by a diabetes diagnosis that way :-) 2 - condom use, ingredients in some lubrications, and often the use of spermicide, can encourgae vaginal infections. You might want to stop the use of spermicides completely, change to a lubricant with different ingredients, and/or change the type of condom material being used. My wife's GYN had us change what we were using and it has worked out very well :-)"

getting rid of a stubborn yeast infection with garlic pills? i am scared to shove a whole clove of garlic up there so i bought some garlic pill capsules with a gelatin capsule and put in up there to melt inside of me. do you think this will work? and i do not want to hear any lectures........in the pasti used monistat, terazole, diflucan, gynazole, genitian violet, boric acid, vinegar douches & baths, tea tree oil suppositories, yogurt suppositories, probiotic pills, nystatin, lavander oil baths, baking soda baths, witch hazel compresses, hydrogen peroxide douches, eating goldenseal, grapefruit seed extract cranberries, .........nothing works anymore i am drug resistant. so i never tried the garlic idea before. think it is any good? remember that i only bought the pills because i am uneasy of shoveing a garlic clove up there!!! any ideas? yes i went to the dr and it is for sure a y.i and none of the meds have helped

Ms. ? replied: "get monistat. safer!! iit also comes in a 3 step process"

clairitaringo replied: "Holy Crap! That sucks. Are you sure it is a yeast infection?? Maybe nothing is working because it is something else. If it bacterial vaginosis, those things might just make it worse. Maybe whatever is causing the infection hasn't been taken out of the equation. I always get yeast infections when I use durex condoms. I used to treat the yeast infection over and over until I realized what was causing it. I switched to trojan and the yeast infections are gone."

Conrad C replied: "Hello there mimi. If you think you may have yeast infection, I can tell you there are some very effective natural cures that can stop your pain. You can cure yeast infection naturally, 100% guaranteed You can do it with ZERO risk It can be done in a short time. Still, along with the natural treatment, please try to : Keep the genital area clean and dry. Avoid harsh soaps (including bubble bath). Wear loose cotton (rather than nylon) underwear that doesn't hold moisture. Take antibiotics only when prescribed by your doctor, and never take them for longer than your doctor tells you to. If you are diabetic, try to control your blood sugar levels. These would prevent from yeast infection to happen. But for now you may try the 100% treatment I found in the below source and tried it myself... it worked ..."

allie_gator_opps replied: "I'd be more weary of the capsules. gelatin capsules would make it worse I think. Cause gelatin is a form of sugar. Remember the garlic clove can't get lost in your vagina. and You don't stick it very far up. Just and inch or 2 up. You could tie a string to the clove before you put it in."

doubleocinco replied: "i know i didn't know whether i could put a whole garlic up there either. i never did it. if the garlic is pure in the capsule form then go ahead try it. you could ingest the pill too but might not have the same effect. i tried all the over the counter drugs and the prescription pills and after the 3rd round it stopped working for me. so i switched to herbal remedies and they work great for me! i take all those herbs you said and it has worked for me. the tea tree oil being the best. i also used colloidal silver and since i have taken that i have not gotten one"

jandy replied: "Garlic won't work, but a gyn exam and culture will help identify cause, could be bacterial vaginosis, or some other STD and you are suffering needlessly with the incorrect medication. All of the above are non therapeutic doses and ineffective, nystatin is oral use, diflucan may not have been taken long enough and is for candida, which, again, you may not have, Candida is itchy, has a cottage cheesy texture and is very uncomfortable. I would think garlic may aggravate or irritate the delicate vaginal mucosa. Please see a doc or go to planned parenthood for an exam if you can't afford a doctor/medcare/health insurance. Feel better. You tried everything, I wouldn't have the patience."

Kristen B replied: "I'm assuming you have already been to the doctor, because it may not be a yeast infection. Also, you need to go to the dr because having constant infections is usually related to another illness. Are you diabetic? Especially if all those things you have tried don't work. If those didn't work, the garlic probably won't either. This is not normal."

namairb2 replied: "Have you ever been tested for MRSA? This would be a reason why nothing is helping you. If you've been diagnosed with THIS this time then your positive that this is only a yeast infection. If not then this might be something mimicking one too. This is why even though you think you know what you have, it might be something else. Medicine is a very tricking thing. No one is right 100% of the time. This is also why doctor's specialize. Since the drugs you list can work then are you sure you finished every course every time. If you didn't this is what causes a tolerance to any one drug. The cures can work repetitively, but that is if you finish every insertion. MRSA is another thing that will keep a cure at bay. Please get tested for MRSA after you get a clear diagnosis for the probable yeast infection. I'm also sure that if you've had one before, that you know what it feels like, but it might be in combination with another infection. I really would not try the garlic insertion. I wouldn't be comfortable with it either."

inex replied: "don't put a whole clove of garlic in your vagina."

Michelle replied: "I heard taking plain yogurt and putting it up there works. I have never tried it though because luckily I have never had a yeast infection. I would try the garlic pill like you said though. Good Luck though. Michelle."

COCO :) replied: "please use odorless garlic pills!! Have you seen a doctor? Maybe the yeast infection is a sign of a more serious problem. i really dont think the garlic will work"

Princesita replied: "Maybe is just the kind of soap u used for bath; use White Dove, hasn't perfumes, and it's very soft; after shower or bath; rinse thoroughly so no soap residues will left, do it gentle, don't scratched hard your skin. Good luck."

Garlic was stuck in vagina for three days? eek.? I had a yeast infection and the Diflucan I got from my gyno didn't seem to work. I think I'm resistant to the medications. So I tried to the home remedy of inserting garlic and it really did help. Problem is, the string that was attached to the garlic broke off when I tried to remove it and I couldn't get it out with my finger. Finally it has come out after three days. Could I be at risk for some sort of bacterial infection now?

I can say what i want to replied: "look at it on the bright side at least vampires won't go messing around down there."

WISHiHadFriends**Haha** replied: "Yucky! Garlic in your area? but if you want my opinion, I'd go to a doctor. or the your gyno just to make sure everythings okay. If you can't afford it, wait a few days for unusual symptoms."

tally replied: "Lmao I would rather have a yeast infection than a vjj that smelled of rotting garlic lmao hahahahahaha"

Ellen replied: "Edward Cullen will never hit that"

Vöt Änårж replied: "LOL @ the first answer. Depends on whether or not the garlic was rotten when it came out. if it could still be eaten (had one not known where it had been), then you're probably safe."

Kenyatta replied: "Definitely LOL at the first answer!!! OMG please tell me this is a joke because I don't wanna even think if how that tooty was smelling! LMAO oh WOW!!"
