how much medication is released at a time with timed released medication? doctor has me on diltiazem 180 mg sa cap, for my arrhythmia and i wanted to know how much medication is going into my system during the day with this medication.

midnightmoon62 replied: "Time release meds are designed to let the medicine out evenly. So if you take it every 8 hours say, then the 180mg is released evenly (give or take) over the 8 hours, giving you roughly 22mg an hour. Are you sure its time release? Just because it is a cap doesnt mean its time release."

Loving_Heart replied: "I agree with midnight answer, SA & SR varies with your intestinal status and the number of covering on tablets, as far as a capsule is concerned it's sustained action release depending on dosage over 24 hours in your blood also known as serum level. I personally don't prescribe this LA, SR etc."

Taking Diltiazem, and my ears wont stop ringing!!? I have been taking 180 mg of diltiazem for a few weeks now to treat my heart palpitations, My one ear has not stopped ringing since 7pm last night, it plugs and rings its driving me nuts, any advice,, I dont even want to take it today. And it hasn't helped the palitaions yet, when is it suppossed to start working?
